Welcome To Wordless Wednesday At Create With Joy!
Quote Of The Week
In extraordinary times,
The ordinary takes on a glow and wonder
All its own.

My Cats See A Squirrel
This morning, as Magellan and Tsunami were
Gazing outside of the kitchen window,
They beheld a wondrous sight:
A squirrel jumped onto the tree perched right outside and
Began to eat his breakfast right in front of them!
Both of my boys were mesmerized by the sight!
Tsunami could not stop gazing at him from the kitchen table.
Legend’s tail started twitching back and forth and he began to
Chirp and pace in the window sill.
The very friendly squirrel looked up at the three of us
And came closer to get a glimpse at Magellan.
Magellan went wild!
He simply had to find a way to meet the squirrel.
How could he get to the other side of the window pane?
He paced back and forth across the window pane
As the squirrel sat and watched.
He pawed on the windows and the walls – to no avail.
Finally, my poor frustrated kitty
Jumped to the top of the kitchen bookshelf to see if perhaps
That held the key to a secret passage out –
But alas, that just got him a different view!
Any day that the squirrels come to visit
Is a magical day for the cats –
Even if it’s a touch frustrating as well!

i miss squirrels!
Reminds me of my girls the last time they saw a squirrel. They think they are adorable. There are no squirrels in New Zealand.
Wow, Rhonda, I did not know that – I guess perhaps they cannot handle the climate?
You learn something new every day!
I had no idea that June was Adopt a Cat Month. That is good to know, while I don’t think we will be getting one because of asthma issues I think I can finally convince a good friend to go and adopt one (I may even get to go help her pick one).
Thanks for the info. Have a great rest of the week.
So glad I shared this – would love to know if your friend finds a cat (be sure to share a photo) – we have allergies and asthma too – but we still have long haired cats! 🙂
Aww! what a cute story I liked the photos they made me laugh imagining them getting frustrated at not being able to get out to meet the squirrel….I bet it drove them nuts (couldn’t resist that last bit)
Have a nuttastic day 🙂
Glad you enjoyed the photos and story. Magellan gets SO frustrated – and I can’t open any windows more than a crack for fear he will go through them…
Thank you, again, for hosting this week! Have a wonderful Tuesday! xx
You too Ashleigh – so goad you could join us! 🙂
Aw, look at their eyes… Such precious captures – thanks for sharing. 🙂
Happy Wordless Wednesday!
So glad you enjoyed today’s photos – happy WW to you too!
What is it about squirrels anyways? LOL
I don’t know but I’ve always been a squirrel watcher too!
They certainly look captivated. There are no pets at our house (severe allergies prevent that), but we’ve got three active nests that can be seen from various windows. The humans here have been caught many times being just as captivated by all the comings and goings there.
How very cool – I often wonder what the neighbors think when I am walking around and I get captivated watching the birds and squirrels up in the trees!
Did they make that chattering sound when they saw the squirrel? I love when our cats do that.
Cats are so entertaining.
Yes – I love cat chatter too! Magellan is a mighty chatterer – be sure to check out this post I did about the whole cat chatter thing last year:

Thank you!

Squirrels are always fun! I can already imagine how happy they will be if they can follow them outside!
How adorable, what a treat even if it comes with frustration. Our adopted cat is settling in a little too well. He left us a present this week, a dead mouse. We’ve never had mice in the house, so it was a shock when he came through the front door carrying one.
Ah, that is the greatest honor your new kitty could bestow on you Raychael – you must accept it as the wondrous prize it is (put on your diplomatic face – and your disinfectant gloves – lol!)
My very first Maine Coon – an INDOOR cat – regularly brought me mice and I can’t tell you how disconcerting THAT was!
Thank you for joining our Oh My Heartsie Girl Wordless Wednesday Link Party, loved your post and photos!! Have a great day, co-host Evija @Fromevijawithlove
Hi Joy. Your little kitties are so adorable. They are the cutest! How lucky you are to have them as part of your family. Lilly sends you her meows and best wishes 😉
Thank you Lily – cats are such a blessing!
I always love the adventures of Magellan. It makes me think about getting a cat.
Thanks for putting a smile on face.
I look forward to the day that you share you are the proud parent to a new cat!
In the meantime, I am happy to make you smile! 🙂
Our Linus seems to pace and chatter at squirrels and birds when they invade his territory. Although he seems perturbed at their arrival, we think that he secretly loves their arrival and enjoys the ‘chase’ behind double-paned glass. He watches with intent!
Gorgeous photos of your kitties! Thanks for sharing and hosting. Have a lovely and blessed week!
Thanks for the party! I love the pictures of your curious kitties watching the squirrel, so cute!
Thanks Joy – sometimes you snap and you’re surprised at what you come up with!
A few of these pesky rodents have tormented our dogs. I hate them. They moved into our house, destroyed wood, made noise, and never paid rent.
http://joycelansky.blogspot.com/2015/05/ww-watcha-eating.html
Oh Joyce, that’s terrible! But you have a knack for making it sound somewhat humorous… A rent-paying squirrel? Now, that would be a sight to behold!
Great images!
My dog would just sit there and bark continuously but my snakes & Tegu would find it a tasty appetizer. My beaded dragons would try to lick it do death, lol.
Thanks for hosting WW.
Wow, that is quite a menagerie of pets you live with! Funny commentary about those bearded dragons!
Our kitties love watching squirrels, too. Like Magellan and Tsunami, they would probably prefer that the window not be in the way, though… 🙂
Thank you for hosting, Ramona. Have a great Wednesday!
Can’t help but wonder what they would do if they met those very friendly squirrels face to face…
Have a fabulous week – look forward to stopping by to see what lovely kitties you’ve featured this week!
Remember last week when I had a picture of an empty nest from my tree out in front of my house… come see I know have four babies in there and mama watchin’ me like a hawk (it’s a robin) they’re adorable, but when you come over to see me leave your kitties here. You’ll frighten the babies…. hehehehehe~ Your kitty look like it really has it’s eye on that squirrel…
I’ll try to visit when the babies aren’t around to scare away the birdies…
Much better than a bird !
I love the angles in that first shot. They both look intense!
P.S: Just joined Pinterest and have followed you.
Awesome Pip – look forward to catching up with you!
Squirrels are the enemy.
Ah – another squirrel hater among us! Beth – who knew!
Hi Ramona! I think that’s so cute how your boys got so excited about the squirrels and how you stood there taking their pictures! 🙂 Love seeing their adventures.
I’m sure you already know but I had to tell you how excited I am that I won one of the Bridges over Paris books!!!!!!!!! Thanks for tweeting me to remind me!! It worked!!!!!
🙂 🙂 🙂
Have a great day Ramona!
Mary – I’m so thrilled to hear that you are one of the Bridges Of Paris winners – can’t wait to hear your thoughts on it when you arrive – I think you are going to LOVE that book!
Would love to know if any other of our readers won a copy – since I am not the administrator of the giveaway, I won’t know who won unless the winners drop me a line…
We have a cardinal that loves to visit our cats and torment them all day 🙂
Isn’t it terrible how some wild animals actually delight in tormenting our pets?
I’ve been fortunate that it hasn’t happened with mine so far but I’ve heard a number of reports from others…
It is always a great day when you can catch a glimpse of a squirrel 😉
Indeed – it makes the whole world brighter – at least if you’re a cat! 🙂
Oh, that face! Bless me with beautiful, it does…. love the way a cat’s eyes are so magnificent – a study in precision and focus! Love this whole post.
So glad you caught this post – it really shows the contrast in personalities between the Magellan and Tsunami as well!
Speaking of Magellan, be sure to catch my Pretty Card, Naughty Cat post for his latest photo and antics!
Ugh, I don’t care much for squirrels, they are always eating my birdies feed! 🙁
We don’t have bird feed so it’s not an issue for us!
What a fierce hunter !
What he wouldn’t do for a chance to try some squirrel meat.
Oooh! A squirrel! How exciting. My kitties love to see squirrels too. I love the little chirp they make while they watch them. 🙂 This must have been a fun moment in your home.
Awe and wonder – those chirping sounds are the best!
Ah, yes. ‘Tis the season for kitty TV. Our kitties love watching the birds, but when the squirrels appear, they perk right up. If they were to GET one, I don’t think they’d know what to do with it, though. 🙂
Same here. I’d almost love to see them come face to face just to see what would happen!
Tsunami and Magellan were ready to get at that squirrel!
It’s not just a cat thing, my Rottweiler loved chasing squirrels all around the park.
Visiting from Katherine’s Favorite Things AND the Wordless Wednesday Linky Hop! 🙂
Bet that’s a sight to see Tracy!
Don’t you really wish that your cats could talk at moments like that,,,,to express what they are truly thinking ?
Yes, that would be so cool!
I know this is about cats and I have one that goes crazy when they come too close to her window. However, my dachshunh Caleigh really doesn’t like them and can spot them far away. She takes off after them and it is a good thing they can climb trees. Squirrels do make life interesting for both cats and dogs.
Bev
It appears we have a number of dogs who would like to get their hands on those rascally squirrels! 🙂
My kitty loses her mind whenever she spots a squirrel. I really think she hates them!
We all chase squirrels, a few of us have caught them.
Wow, we’re in awe – what do you do once you catch a squirrel?
Your cats are so beautiful! ….I mean so handsome 😉
That’s so funny! I just love cats and watching their quirky little habits!
Thanks so much for linking up with #ShareTheWealthSunday!
xoxo
Lisa
Glad you enjoyed the photos and story Lisa!
Such a cute video. We come face to face squirrels everyday. They are right on the opposite side of our catio screen, sometimes climbing the outside while we climb the inside. Fun times! XOCK, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo
I’d love to climb the screen but Mom won’t let me -she says I am too big and heavy for it – claims she has to replace the screens because I’ve busted them out at the seams – but I say it’s not me – after all, I’m the sleekest cat in the house!
