Maria Kang is not a woman who minces words. These questions are the first words that will greet you when you open her book, The No More Excuses Diet. If you’re ready to get serious about your health and fitness regime – if you’re ready for some tough love – than this is the book for you!

Maria’s book is filled with some dietary and nutritional advice (no recipes) and lots of exercises (with photographs). What distinguishes The No More Excuses Diet Book from other, however, is its emphasis on helping you to know your strengths, weakness, excuses and motivations.

Maria’s program is based on three cycles:

  • The 3-Day SPEED Cycle where you develop a fitness and diet program specific to your body, your lifestyle, and the goals you want to achieve – your game plan for success.
  • The 3-Week STRIVE Cycle where you work on putting your game plan into operation. During this cycle, you create new habits for a healthier life – confront the challenges that have sidelined you in the past – and identify and implement new strategies that help you to successfully overcome these challenges.
  • The 3-Month SCORE Cycle where you reflect on and celebrate your successes and evaluate the next part of your journey.

I really like the strategic and motivational aspects of The No More Excuses Diet. Maria writes:

This book is not about making you feel guilty for how you look, or ashamed of the choices you’ve made. This book is about getting you to a place where you love your life, love your body, and love your health. And in order to feel that way, you have to bust through the excuses that might stand between you and your best body.

I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars.

    I remember when she came out with her controversial post and I loved it! I figured she’d launch her 15 minutes of notoriety into a career if she was a smart lady, and alas, she has!
