The Devotional For Women – Book Review

If you are a woman who is committed to deepening your relationship with the Lord and are looking for a biblically-based devotional to reflect upon during your quiet times with God, chances are you’ll find The Devotional For Women perfect for your spiritual needs!

The Devotional For Women reminds me of an old-fashioned devotional written specifically for contemporary women. You won’t find any fluff in these devotions – they are theologically sound and reflect the values and virtues of generations past.

Written by a multi-generational team of women and edited by Rhonda Harrington Kelley and Dorothy Kelley Patterson, The Devotional For Women discusses topics of interest and relevance to modern women and profiles both named and unnamed women in the Bible.

The Devotional For Women - A Peek Inside L1

Each day’s message includes a passage of Scripture to reflect on, a devotion to encourage and help you apply the passage to your life, a prayer to help you come before the Lord, and journaling space for your personal reflections.

The book also includes a few extra features such as articles on how to establish A Pattern Of Personal Quiet Time, The Christian Life, and a Daily Bible Reading Plan.

I appreciate the beautiful faux leather purple cover and the beautiful design of the book (although those who have trouble reading smaller and lighter print will need to pull out their reading glasses for this book).

What I like most about The Devotional For Women though is that the writers and editors of this book have provided women with a well-thought out devotional that will truly help women to grow their faith and lead holier lives.

I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars.

Wonderful review. Do you think this would be appropriate for a college age young lady? Thank you for sharing.

    • Hi Katrina, I think it would be perfect for a mature college age student!

Here’s the thing about this book. It is a more serious devotional than many of the books on the market – so if you are looking for a devotional that isn’t afraid to discuss terms and concepts like glorification and sanctification and justification and approach things from a perspective that’s more conservative and “old-fashioned” than this book is a great devotional for women of any age, including college students.

However, if you are looking for a more trendy devotional for a college student – one that is going to have more “mass appeal” to that age group, so to speak, than this might not be the right choice for them.

I personally think this would be a great choice though – I think it’s harder these days to find good devotionals that contain lots of meat than the other way around.

Have a wonderful day and thanks for stopping by and taking the time to share my review! 🙂

  3. This sounds like a devotional I may have to get! I love the cover, too. One of our sweet kiddos in our Children’s Ministry this morning showed me her new Bible. It had such a soft beautiful pink cover – so inviting!
