Captive DVD – Review

If you are one of the 32 million people around the world who have read Rick Warren’s best-selling book, The Purpose Driven Life, chances are, your life has been touched in some way by its inspiring message.

Now imagine what could happen if somehow, in the midst of a life-threatening crisis, God used The Purpose Driven Life to transform the lives of two lost souls…

That’s the miraculous story behind Captive!

Captive tells the story of Brian Nichols (portrayed by Golden Globe Nominee David Oyelowo) – a desperate fugitive who is trying to contact his newborn son. In the process, he takes Ashley Smith (Kata Mara) – a recently widowed mother – hostage in her own apartment.

Fearing for her life and desperate to see her own daughter again, Ashley turns to Rick Warren’s The Purpose Driven Life for Guidance. In the process, both she and her captor discover hope and light in the midst of a desperate situation.

Captive was released on DVD on January 6, 2016 and is rated PG-13 due to mature thematic elements involving violence and substance abuse. The movie runs 96 minutes.

In addition, there is over 30 minutes of bonus content on this DVD including Journey Through Darkness: Filming Captive and Faith and The Purpose Driven Life. Also included with this DVD is a Digital HD copy that can be instantly streamed and downloaded.

No, I haven’t read the book or seen the movie. I did see the trailers for the movie and 20 years ago I would have said no way possible would someone connect with their kidnapper, but in light of all the recent things going on and a light being shed on people who do these awful things, I can see more clearly now how this might happen.

It’s such a sad thing to read and to listen to and my mind just shuts down because I need to take deep breaths and it really is tragic that these awful people get a kick out of screwing with these people’s minds to the point that they don’t know what is real or not.

It sounds like a heart pounding movie and I would definitely watch this one!
