Card Of The Week – It’s Your Day
The season of special occasions is upon us. Whether we are acknowledging an official holiday such as Mother’s Day – celebrating an official rite of passage such as graduation – commemorating a special occasion such as a birthday, an engagement, or a wedding – chances are, as we look over our calendars, there are one or more persons in our lives right now to whom we can say, “It’s Your Day!”
So – in your spare moments – now is the perfect time to begin making cards for the special people in your lives! Your card doesn’t have to be extra complicated to be super special. Here are a few tips I used to create this very pretty yet very simple card!
- When your time is limited, pull out your prettiest patterned paper and make that the focus of your design! I chose a pretty floral pattern with embossing to add texture, then cut around the design and layered it over white cardstock for color contrast and visual interest.
- Keep your focus on the sentiment by stamping a simple message but add an element of surprise! I cut the edges of the cardstock to form a ribbon edge – an unexpected eye-catching twist!
- Add a touch of elegance to your card by adding a simple embellishment that fits with your card’s theme. I found a flower that complemented and contrasted the colors in the cardstock, centered it with a mini-brad, and sweet simplicity – my card was completed!
Perhaps you can use these tips to get your creative juices flowing as you go through your stash and think about how you can quickly begin to use some of the items you’ve collected in new yet simple ways!
