Patterns Of Evidence: Exodus – DVD Review & Giveaway

When you read or hear stories from the Bible, do you believe that they really happened? I do – but I realize that not everyone shares my faith. Today, even portions of the Bible that have long considered to be historically accurate and factual are being challenged by factions outside and within the faith community.

One prime example of this controversy involves the story of the Exodus. In the 19th and early 20th centuries, the Exodus was so widely embraced as factual, that archaeologists brought both shovels and Bibles with them to excavation sites. In the past 50 years, however, many of the world’s most prominent archaeologists and historians have taken the position that there is no hard evidence to support the Exodus story.

Who is right? Is there actual physical and archaeological evidence to support the claims of the Bible or is the Exodus story just a myth?

Patterns Of Evidence 1

These are the questions that author, filmmaker and producer Timothy Mahoney sets out to answer in his award-winning documentary Patterns Of Evidence: Exodus.

Timothy says:

I spent 12 years asking the question, “Is the Bible true?” If it wasn’t, then what should I put my faith in? What I found was an amazing pattern of evidence that matched many of the events recorded in the Bible. There was a real history that could be seen. For me that changed everything. I encourage you to join me in the ongoing investigation and see the Bible affirming evidence for yourself.

Patterns Of Evidence: Exodus takes a balanced approach in the presentation of its findings, letting viewers weigh the evidence and decide for themselves whether the Bible story is real or mythic. Here’s some more information about the film:

Patterns Of Evidence 2

  • Patterns Of Evidence: Exodus won 13 awards on the film festival circuit in 2014, including a Gold Remi Award winner for Best Director at the Worldfest Houston International Film Festival, the Gold Crown Award for Best Picture and Best Documentary at ICVM 2014, and Official Selection at the Soho International Film Festival in New York.
  • The supplemental resources associated with the film include a nearly 400-page hardcover book, small group Bible study, Movie Event kit, youth version (called Young Explorers), homeschool curriculum and others.
  • It includes powerful interviews with some of the top experts in the fields of archaeology and Egyptology as well as people of influence in the Middle East.
  • The film has an objective, fair-minded and balanced approach. It allows viewpoints from all sides to be heard in a respectful way while asking honest questions of the Bible and scholars’ views. It does not preach and lets the evidence speak for itself. This allows the film to be very shareable with those of different viewpoints.
