Friend Of The Week – All That’s Jas

Jas-Brechtl

One of the things that I love about Friendship Friday is the chance to really get to learn more about one of my precious readers each week. There is so much more to each of us than first meets the eye at a casual glance at an individual blog post – and I couldn’t have found a better person to illustrate this point than this week’s Featured Blogger, Jas of All That’s Jas!

Two Bean Chili Con Carne

The first thing you’ll notice about Jas is that in the popular world of food blogging, Jas’s recipes and photos stand out. Jas is one of those gifted foodies who has the ability to take a popular dish like Chili Con Carne and elevate it to something mouth-watering and extraordinary! As a home chef, recipe developer, and food photographer, she’s passionate about sharing her love of comfort food from all around the world and making it simple and accessible to people like us who would never have the opportunity to try special dishes otherwise. You can find some of these recipes in her cookbook, Balkan Comfort Food – Home Cooking From The Heart!

But Jas has an even more compelling reason for cooking – it helps her keep the connection strong between her Bosnian past and her American present.

No Bake Cheesecakes

From childhood anorexic to cheesecake lover – from refugee to writer – Jas
is a fascinating woman to get to know!

Making new blogging friends is a delight. Be sure to visit Jas this week – explore her blog – and congratulate her for being our Friend Of The Week at Friendship Friday at Create With Joy!

    Have a great weekend!

  7. Thanks for hosting the link up!

  8. Hi! Thanks for hosting; I’m excited to find this linkup and to browse the posts. I’m puzzled, though, how readers are supposed to browse the posts when they don’t appear on this page. I’m going to direct my readers to the “view linkup” page instead of this post. Most other link parties have the linkup at the bottom of the post.

I saw your link on Hearth & Soul, where I’ve been linking up for many years now. I started my website in 1997 and started using blog software (so much easier!) in 2007. My goal is to write a complete guide to living on Earth that is helpful to all of us born here, as well as any visitors. I often write about food, books, and environmental responsibility, but my topics are all over the place–it’s a complicated planet!

    • Hi Becca,

Welcome to Friendship Friday! I used to include the posts on the same page as the party (I’ve been hosting for years) but how I include it on a separate page (you just have to click on the JOIN THE PARTY button link to see them) for a few reasons:

      1. First, a technical guru did an assessment of my blog and indicated that by putting the blog links on the same page, because of the number of links my parties get, it slows my blog load speed down tremendously which is bad for both people on the site and for my Google stats. She indicated that by doing it this way, Inlinkz (not my blog) is hosting the links and it is not impacting my blog load speed in the same way.

      2. Second, to help reduce the speed load, I previously was only showing a certain number of blog posts per page, which meant that if you didn’t come to the party early, you had to scroll through pages upon pages to see all of the links. This way, once you click on the link, everyone can see everybody’s posts in one place, which gives everyone an equal shot to be visited each week, and it makes the whole thing nicer!

So, I hope that you will direct your peeps to the actual party (which is also nice because that is where guests are featured each week, which is also a big part of the party.

Be sure to visit Jas – this week’s Featured Blogger and Friend Of The Week – and you’ll see what I’m talking about!

Have a wonderful week Becca! 🙂

I always enjoying seeing the recipes Jas links up each week and have been to her blog but didn’t realize she was from Bosnia (or a cheesecake lover, for that matter!) Thanks to Friendship Friday you’ve reminded me to slow down and take some time to get to know other bloggers! Thank you! Hope you have a nice weekend!
