Living Lies (Harbored Secrets – Book 1) by Natalie Walters
There is nothing more enjoyable to do on a hot summer’s day than to stay inside, crank up the air conditioning, and lose yourself in a romantic suspense novel.
If you’re looking for a good one, debut novelist Natalie Walters has woven quite a compelling story with Living Lies – the first book in the new 2-part Harbored Secrets series. Living Lies introduces us to leading lady Lane Kent, who has just returned home to the small town of Walton, Georgia after being in the unenviable position of becoming a widow at age 28.
As you might imagine, Lane is struggling with depression, guilt and anxiety in the aftermath of her husband Noah’s death – emotions she is trying to deal with silently and privately. She has returned home in search of refuge and doesn’t want or need any addition stress in her life – especially the type of stress and shock that comes with discovering a dead body in the woods.
Enter leading man Charlie Lynch – the new deputy in town. Charlie is a compassionate man who is drawn to Lane but also struggling with his own issues. Adjusting to life as a civilian when you’re still fresh off of military tour duty isn’t easy. Neither is being assigned to a murder investigation on your first day of the job.
Living Lies is a character-driven suspense story about two highly likeable and relatable characters who are looking for hope as they try to navigate through the rough patches of their lives.
If you enjoy suspense, mysteries, romance, characters who are dealing with real-life issues and a message of hope, then this book is for you!
Deadly Deceit – Book 2 in the Harbor Series – is scheduled for release in November 2019. Watch for it!
I rate this book 4 out of 5 stars.
