The 2020 Artisan Collection Bibles – Book Review

Are you looking for a beautiful, wide-margin Bible where you can take notes, journal your prayers, and even worship the Lord through heartfelt art as you study and meditate on His Word?

If so, you’ll be excited to learn that Zondervan – the publishing group that first brought us the NIV Artisan Bible Collection in Teal Floral and Pink Floral in 2019 – has just released its 2020 line-up of Bibles and they are looking even more exquisite than ever!

Artisan Bibles 2020

Mixed media artist Olivia Joy created three stunning cover choices for this year’s collection using alcohol ink to create brilliant abstract designs in hues of blue, pink, and a multi-color combination of both. Gold foil accents add an exquisite and sophisticated touch to these Bibles, no matter which design you chose!

Artisan Collection Bible For Girls NIV

If you’re interested in an Artisan Collection Bible For Girls, you’ll want to check out the beautiful, multi-color version that features the lighter hues of pinks and blues spotlighted with gold foil polka dots. The interior page is teal with polka dots added for visual interest. This Bible is available in the NIV translation and features golden gilded edges, off-white pages, a 2-inch lined margin for note-taking and journaling, the words of Jesus in red, and a pretty teal ribbon that matches the interior pages. The Bible is so beautiful that even my husband spotted it and commented on how lovely he thought the cover design is!

Artisan Collection Bible NIV

If you prefer, you can also choose one of the Artisan Collection Bibles in variegated tones of Blue or Pink and your choice of translations (NIV or NRSV). I chose the Blue Bible in the New Revised Standard Version because this is a new-to-me translation. While all three of the Bibles are similar, I was surprised to discover that the features inside of this Bible are slightly different than the Artisan Collection Bible For Girls.

The biggest difference, from my perspective, is that the journaling lines are spaced more widely apart, which is a great feature for those of us with larger writing. The second difference I noticed is that the words of Jesus are not in red. The third difference I noticed is that there are two color-coordinated ribbons – a blue and a cream colored ribbon – for bookmarking.

Artisan Bibles - A Peek Inside

The inserts and web pages say that the font on the Artisan Collection Bible For Girls is a 9.5 point font and the font on the Artisan Collection Bibles is a 9 point font, but I have examined the Bibles closely and I believe that this is an error. To me, it appears that the Artisan Collection Bible (the blue one with the wide journaling lines) has the larger print, which makes sense, since the Artisan Collection Bible For Girls is being marketed for younger girls (in actuality, this is a not a “children’s” Bible – it’s a great Bible for anyone). I’ve provided a photo so you can compare the interiors and determine which interior you prefer.

The bottom line is that no matter which Bible in the collection you choose for yourself, your friends, and your daughters, you can’t go wrong! My personal preference? I really like the multi-color design of the pink and blue Artisan Collection Bible for Girls, but I like the legibility and line spacing of the blue Artisan Collection Bible, so I feel blessed to add both to my Bible journaling collection!

I rate these Bible 5 out of 5 stars.
