Friend Of The Week – Traveling Cats

Summer is normally the season to travel to new destinations but due to C-19, most of us have altered our plans for 2020, so I cannot think of a better week to introduce you to Vanessa Morgan, the founder and creative mind behind Traveling Cats – a blog that features stunning photography of the places that Vanessa has visited over the years and the fascinating stories of the cats who live there! (If you’re looking for a fun way to teach your kids geography or to brush up on your own skills for Jeopardy or Trivia, this is it!)

For instance, have you ever heard of Procida? You’ll find this tiny island – the
smallest of the Flegrean Islands – off of the coast of Naples in Southern Italy. Perhaps it will be familiar to you if you saw The Talented Mr. Ripley – but what I love most about this island is that it’s also an island filled with beautiful hunting and patrolling cats!

Vanessa photographs cats all around the world, even in places you’d never imagine! For example, photographic felines aren’t the first creatures that come to mind when we think of Bucharest, Romania. However, the King Michael 1 Park (formerly Herastrau Park) is an oasis for many of the local strays!

Perhaps the most fascinating discovery on this visit was learning that animal-themed cats are wildly popular in South Korea! For instance, at the Kitty Café in Pyeongtaek, locals and tourists from around the world come to visit and interact with the beautiful cats! The Kitty Café is fascinating because it’s been built with the cats needs and safety in mind. Some places house birds and dogs too!

Making new friends and deepening existing relationships are two of life’s greatest pleasures.
