Farewell, Sweet Tsunami – We Will Always Love You
We have been praying for healing for Tsunami for this past month and providing him with the best veterinary care possible, but this Monday, it became clear to us and the vet that in spite of the treatment he was receiving, he was not getting better. This vet believes that since he has not responded to treatment, a underlying, undiagnosed condition must be the cause – most likely cancer or kidney disease. At this point, even if we ran additional tests and administered additional treatment, it seemed unlikely that he would bounce back.
So, we brought him home and have spent the past week making him as comfortable as possible, cherishing our final moments with him, and praying for wisdom that we would know when it was time to say our goodbyes. That moment came just a little while ago and, through tears and heartbreak, we made one final drive to the vet so that he could leave us with dignity, grace and peace.
Tsunami was born on April 7, 2007 and joined our family in July 2007 at 14 weeks. Most of the photos I am sharing with you were taken on the first day that he came to live with us (the last one was taken at 11 weeks). For the past 13 years, he helped fill our home and our hearts with so much love and so many wonderful memories, it’s hard to imagine life without him. Even Magellan knows that life has shifted and he is feeling the loss.
One of the things that has brought me great joy over the years is knowing how much joy Tsunami has brought so many of you as well. Thank you for the love you’ve given Tsunami over the years. It’s amazing to live in a day and age where one sweet cat can impact so many lives.

I’m so sorry for your loss.
What a sweet baby.
Oh dear, I’m so very sorry to hear about dear Tsunami and I know how heartbroken you are. It’s never ever easy. I know there are not the right words, so I’ll leave you with purrs, hugs and all our love. Thanks for joining our Thankful Thursday Blog Hop.
Almost couldn’t click like on this post because of poor Tsunami. I know that God is present with us in all our losses, and I trust you are conscious of his peace and comfort.
I am so sorry for the loss of your beautiful boy. XO
I”m so very sorry for your loss, sending hugs your way.
So sorry for Tsunami. Last year, I lost 2 of my fur babies and Its something, I’m struggling with.
I’m so sorry for your losses Naush.
I know this loss brings up every other loss I’ve had which only amplifies the pain.
I’m so sorry you had to let Tsunami go, and so young. I had no idea he was unwell. Sometimes we never find a reason without complicated diagnostics and a lot of time, and we often end up with the same diagnosis, but it’s still really hard, without a solid reason, to give up hope and face the reality. We are purring for you and Magellan as you begin your grief journey.
I am so sorry for your loss.
Oh Ramona, I am so very sorry. Tsunami really was such a wonderful character, and even though I only new him ‘virtually’ I will miss him. This is such a painful time for you. My heart goes out to you and yours, and to Magellan, who has lost his pal. Sending a huge hug and lots of prayers, my friend.
I was so sad to hear about Tsunami. It’s so hard losing a faithful friend & companion. My heart hurts for you both. Sending lots of love your way.
I’m so sad to hear this news.
I’m so very sorry, Ramona. I don’t get to blog much anymore, so I’m not as connected with my dear blogging friends as I once was and this news breaks my heart. Tsunami certainly has filled the world with love and he will always be a part of your heart, home, and spirit. Much love from Deb and the Zee/Zoey gang.
Thank you for hosting and I’m sorry to hear about Tsunami. May he rest in peace.
I’m so sorry for your loss. I had a cat that lived to be almost 20 and when he got ill it was so difficult. They really do get a hold of our hearts.
I’m so sorry to hear that you’ve had to say goodby to you sweet Tsunami. Pets can hold a special place in our hearts. I know you’ll miss him. We still talk about each and every cat we have had through the years. And we’ve had quite a few. At one point years ago, we had 4 grown cats and two litters of kitten all at once. It was crazy and we loved it!
Cats are angel friends who love us for too short a time. I’m sure Tsunami is romping over the Rainbow Bridge with all our furry friends. The memories are always sharp. Purrs.
Awww… I am so sorry to hear about your sweet Tsunami. We have a silver tabby, Ellie, who is 1 year older. I know the time is coming. It’s so difficult. :-/ Thanks for sharing!
That’s so very sad to hear. I have three kitties myself, so this really truly breaks my heart.
I’m so very sorry for your loss. I know Tsunami will be missed. And I know your love made all the difference for Tsunami throughout your kitty’s life.
I’m sorry to hear about your Tsunami kitty. I lost my sweet pup of 16 years last summer, and it was heartbreaking. Wishing you peach and comfort. ❤️

I am so sorry for the loss of your precious Tsunami! I know how heartbroken you all are now as I also lost a beloved cat shortly after we moved to Colorado. He had a stroke and there was nothing the vet could do for him. Their lifetimes are short but they give us so much love and memories to cherish. I’m so glad you had an extra week with Tsunami to say goodbye. He knows you loved him so much!
I’m SO sorry for the loss of your beloved cat as well Pat.
Thanks for your kind words.
I am so sorry for the loss of your beautiful boy.
I am so very sorry about Tsunami. Lots and lots of purrs to you.
We did not know Tsunami, but with a name like that, he must have been quite a presence all his days. We post in admiration of him (for what cat is not admirable?), and because of the love he so very obviously left behind.
Our Best Purrs Of Comfort to you who remain missing him…
I’m very sorry about Tsunami’s passing. He was as handsome as his name was unique. He was lucky to have such a family as you, and the world was lucky to have him in it, for however brief a time as he was allotted. Godspeed, Tsunami.
