NIV Halley’s Study Bible – Review
Are you familiar with Halley’s Bible Handbook? Decades ago, when I first became a Christian, this reference book, which is now the most popular Bible handbook of all time, became my go-to reference book whenever I needed to find cultural, historical, or geographical information on topics related to my Bible studies. So, it should come as no surprise that I jumped on the opportunity to review Halley’s Study Bible – the latest NIV Study Bible from Zondervan!
Halley’s Study Bible combines the scriptural insights of Henry Halley – a man who was passionate about spreading biblical literacy through his writing – alongside the popular modern New International Version translation. Inside this Bible you’ll find more than 750 articles, charts and maps from Halley’s Bible Handbook conveniently placed in the spots where you’ll want to refer to them the most.
One of the things that stands out when you use this Bible are the full color maps and photos of archaeological findings and biblical places, which were newly photographed for this Bible. These features help make the text of the Bible come alive. The articles are in blue boxes with maroon highlights that also visually pop against the white pages and black font in the hardcover Bible I received (the words of Jesus are in red).
The Bible uses a 9-font comfort print for the Scriptures and a slightly smaller font for the 6000+ study notes that appear at the bottom of the page.
If you’re looking for a practical Study Bible that will help you to learn more about the historical context of the Bible, then Halley’s Study Bible is a great choice to consider!
I rate this Bible 5 out of 5 stars.

I love Halley’s. About ten years ago I had a Bible with large side margins for writing notes and I filled it with tidbits from Halley’s. If they do this in the future with NLT I’ll buy one. Thanks for the interesting review!
