Friend Of The Week – Suzan
It’s hard to believe that I’m writing this, but we are in the final quarter of the year! As we say hello to October, I’m in the midst of a triple digit heat wave in SoCal, trying to blast the heat away with a little window AC. Nonetheless, I have visions of stunning New England Autumns dancing around in my head and I anticipate that by month’s end, we’ll begin to experience more seasonal weather in my neck of the woods!
One blogger who is prepared for the changing of the seasons is Suzan, a New England based homesteader who shares her love of organic gardening, food preservation, herbal remedies and more at It’s My Sustainable Life (One Season At A Time).
This week Suzan shared a luscious, hearty Pumpkin Bread Recipe that’s been in her family for over 50 years! This recipe is so good, that her older brother once “accidentally” sneezed on it so that he could claim the prized loaf for his very own! I can’t wait to make this for my family – I think you’ll enjoy it too!
Now’s the time to think about how to safe-guard your health (and recover speedily when you’re under the weather). Suzan can not only tell you how to use Herbal Infusions to improve your health, but she can show you how to make your own at home!
As the temperatures begin to drop and the days begin to shorten, do you begin to crave foods that bring you comfort? Nothing says comfort like a fresh batch of Homemade Biscuits! Suzan says that “Learning how to make homemade biscuits may be the best from scratch recipe you can have in your repertoire.” Her flaky, buttery biscuits contain only five ingredients and take only 10 minutes to make!
If these features pique your interest, you’ll love getting to know Suzan and exploring more of the creative, sustainable ideas that she’s shared on her blog! Be sure to visit Suzan this week and congratulate her for being our Friend of the Week at Friendship Friday at Create With Joy!

Thanks Patrick – hope you are safe from the fire and the smoke – we are having terrible air and breathing issues where we are!
That story about Suzan’s brother “sneezing” on the pumpkin bread made us laugh. But it MUST be good if he went to those extremes. Thank you for featuring her this week, Ramona.
I can hardly believe you guys are still wilting in 100 degree weather. Ugh! Nor can I believe it’s already October. Amazing.
Anyway. thank you for hosting, my friend. Happy weekend to you, Roy, and Magellan.
