Friend Of The Week – Animal Shelter Volunteer Life
Happy February dear friends! I don’t know when it happened, but this week, as I was visiting the amazing bloggers who joined us at last week’s Friendship Friday party, I was blown away by the snazzy new design and stunning photos that greeted me at Animal Shelter Volunteer Life!
Animal Shelter Volunteer Life is a heartwarming blog about the cats who find themselves at PAWS – a privately-funded, non-profit, no-kill shelter in Norwalk, Connecticut that has rescued, rehabilitated and reformed thousands of stray, neglected and abused animals over the years. For as long as I can remember, Kevin and his wife Tracey have been faithfully spotlighting these cats and dedicating their time to serving their needs and helping them to find their forever homes.
One of the things that makes Kevin’s blog so special is that he takes the time to get to know the cats – to beautifully photograph their essence so that potential parents can get a glimpse of who they are – and to tell their story in a way that helps to match them to the right people.
For instance, pretty-boy Potter is a total love bug as long as you follow a few rules. Don’t bring me into a home with other pets (I don’t share my peeps well!) and please be patient with me (I don’t always hit the potty on the spotty but I promise to do better if you’ll just be patient with me!)
Dax, on the other hand, might be amenable to other cats as long as they’re nice – he just wants a good loving home! This 3-year old beauty was brought to PAWS when his owners moved to a place that did not allow pets. Dax just wants to play, hang out and be loved – isn’t that what every cat wants?
And then there’s Wiggie, a super-friendly, laid-back lady who is looking for a peaceful environment to call her own! Wiggie is super special – only 20% of orange cats are female like her. Because she’s so special, she doesn’t want to share the spotlight with other cats (who can blame her)?
Making new friends and deepening existing relationships are a true blessing. Be sure to visit Kevin’s blog this week, show him some comment love, and congratulate him for being our Friend Of The Week at Friendship Friday at Create With Joy!

Kevin and Tracey do so many good things for the kitties and we just love them to bits. We’ve met them both and are proud to call them friends. Thanks for joining our Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!
The feeling is mutual – we haven’t had the privilege of meeting them IRL but we’re proud to call them friends as well! 🙂
Howdy! This is Marv and this is the first time we have linked up in YEARS (I do believe Nellie the Cat From Hell did a zillion years ago! We have seen you at Comedy Plus’ hops and at Thankful Thursday and we want to get in on all the fun! We hope you have a marvellously Happy Day!
Hi Marv, so glad you’re joining us this week!
We havve been furrends with Animal Shelter Volunteer Life for almost 12 years! It is so cool to see them featured here! Kevin is a very special person and he and his wife do a lot for PAWS! It is so wonderful that you are spotlighting them here this week! Have a marvellously Happy Day!
12 years… When I was writing today’s post I was thinking about all of the bloggers that have been with me since the early years and they are among the few that come to mind. Can you imagine all of the lives – both feline and human – who have been enriched because of their loving hearts? Amazing!
That is one of my favorite blogs. Thanks for hosting. Have a nice weekend.
When you give of yourself so generously, don’t you love the ripple effect you have in other people’s lives?
Hope you and the kitties are staying well, doing well and having a wonderful February Ellen!
Thanks for joining us this week! 🙂
Thanks so much for hosting! I’m linking up with WHY DO JEANS HAVE RIVETS? Check out my 3 current link parties if you’d like more views and shares for your posts 🙂
Your Wiggie looks a lot like a cat I had named Tiger, except, he was male.
I had a Tiger when I was growing up! 🙂
What adorable cats! I do hope that they are soon adopted. How lovely to learn more about Kevin’s blog too. My British husband used to live near Norwalk when he and his family lived in the US in the 1970’s. Thank you for hosting the party, Ramona. I hope you have a lovely weekend!
It’s a small world, isn’t it, April?
Perhaps when the world regains its shape, if you are ever out that way you can pay them a visit! 🙂
Kevin’s beautiful pictures result in so many adoptions. He and Tracey spend a lot of time with the PAWS cats providing love and comfort. We are lucky to count them among our favorite volunteers and friends.
It amazes me, Maggie, that more shelters don’t do this.
SO wish I was in the area – PAWS is obviously a special place run by human angels! xoxo
Every blessing!
Thanks for all you do!
Thanks Michele! I’m studying the word “blessed” this week so your comment is especially meaningful! 🙂
Such pretty kitty photos to warm my heart. Thanks for the party.
My pleasure Amy. Have a great week – stay warm on your outings! 🙂
Great party! I love all the cats – I am a crazy cat lady. Have a great weekend
Crazy cat ladies are SO welcome here! 🙂
Have a wonderful week Helen – always a pleasure to see you!
We like Kevin too and he’s amazing with all the kitties. I’m not sure how long I’ve visited him, but it’s been a very long time.
Have a fabulous day and weekend. ♥
I know! It’s hard to keep track of the years (and considering what Kevin’s blog is about, his longevity is super-special!)
Have a great week Sandee – appreciate your visit! 🙂
I love volunteering at the animal shelter and SPCA! Thank you so much for hosting and have a great weekend.
Cindy I love to hear that you volunteer! There are few joys that compare with giving animals in need your love. 🙂
I posted my Gluten Free Roasted Peppers and Peppers and Eggs Recipe. It’s so easy yet so delicious.
Sounds delicious and healthy Doreen – thanks for sharing! 🙂
We absolutely love Kevin and his blog and everything he and Tracey do for the PAWS kitties. XOCK, angel Lily Olivia, angel Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, angel Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth, Calista Jo, Cooper Murphy, Sawyer & Kizmet
Agreed Janet – he is the best! Hope you and your kitties are well. It’s always a joy to visit you and the feline gang! 🙂
What a surprise and honor to be featured as your friend of the week, Ramona. Thank you so much, dear pal! We love participating in your Friendship Friday Blog Hop, and getting the chance to meet so many fabulous and interesting bloggers. It’s a really great community.
We’re so grateful that you shared about Potter, Dax and Wiggy! They’re all such great cats. Then again, we kind of think ALL cats are great. 🙂
Finally, thank you for your kind words about our new look. We wanted our hero image to feature our sweet Ava prominently, but also pay tribute to our beloved angels. And of course, we had to work in some PAWS cats. 🙂 I actually did the design myself, and am pleased with how it turned out.
We hope you, Roy and Magellan are doing well. You are truly blessings to us, and we are thankful for your friendship. Hugs!
Kevin, Tracey and Ava
Wow, Kevin, you did an amazing job on the photo banner and the design – I truly was blown away when I visited this week!
Your new look perfectly encapsulates what your site is about. I hope that you, your family and the kitties at PAWS are all doing well. I appreciate your kind words as well! 🙂
