Music To Inspire You
Welcome To Music Moves Me!
This week, our challenge is to share a song about cars or racing in anticipation of the Indy 500 later this month. I’m not a racing fan but I like to participate in the challenge themes whenever I can!
With that in mind, today I’m sharing my favorite Bruce Springsteen song of all time – Thunder Road. This is the opening song on his third and breakthrough album, Born To Run. The album, which was released on August 25, 1975, inspired music critic Jon Landau to write the quote that would help propel both him and Bruce to fame:
I saw rock and roll future and its name is Bruce Springsteen.
Picking the right music video to future each week is always a challenge. After listening to several renditions, I came across a video of Bruce performing Thunder Road live at the Hammersmith Odeon in London on November 18, 1975 (just shy of three months after the album release!) This concert marked Bruce’s first introduction to Europe and was such a smash it was later released as his 4th live album! Although the video quality is very dark (after all, this was 1975!), Bruce’s vocal quality is amazing! I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

And – if you are a Springsteen fan and would like to know more about the history behind Thunder Road – be sure to check out the second video, where we’ll hear the scoop firsthand from the Boss himself!

Such pretty photos! I’m ready for a slice of cake now.
Stop on by and I’ll save you a slice! 🙂
Definitely inspired by that strawberry cake!
Yes – simply amazing! (Can you believe that I’ve been dessert free all year yet feature stuff like this front and center?
Tortuous but true – lol!)
I can remember when Bruce Springsteen seemed to come from nowhere. Suddenly he was on the cover of Time Magazine and I was absolutely in love with “Born to Run”. It’s kind of strange, he has songs I love and songs that his unique voice just doesn’t work with – although I can’t remember the names of any of them right now! But when his songs work, oh, do they work, and this is one of them that works.
Know what you mean about his voice! Bruce has been an extremely prolific artist over the years and there are definitely songs of his that I like more than others. Born To Run is one of my favorite albums of all time though – the music, the poetic lyrics, the artistry – everything truly comes together on this one! 🙂
Thank you for hosting!
My pleasure Tina – so glad you came!
Happy Monday, Ramona! I hope you had a lovely weekend and that this week is full of blessings. Thank you for hosting!

You too Debbie. Your presence always brightens my day!
Hello!
Thanks for hosting!
I was looking at the strawberry layered cake and wondering why when I attempt to make something like that it it does not end up looking remotely similar. My layers start to slide off every which way and we end up with upside down cake. I’m always impressed at what others can do!
Have a good week!
Laurie
I know what you mean Laurie -probably why I’m always in awe of such picture perfect desserts!
P.S. Upside down cake is one of my husband’s favorites! 🙂
