The Open Bible – Review Of The 50th Anniversary Edition

The Open Bible

The Open Bible – A Trusted Resource For 50 Years!

Did you know that when a publisher releases a Bible, it is not guaranteed to remain in print in the years to come?

There are many reasons for this, but here’s the thing – when a specific Bible edition has proven itself to have staying power year after year, it is worth discovering what it is about that Bible that keeps people coming back to it year after year!

On that note, I’d like to share my thoughts on The Open Bible – a Bible that was first released in 1975 and has only increased in popularity over the years!

Although I have heard of this Bible by name, this is my first exposure to it as I did not previously own a copy. And, a quick perusal of this Bible instantly reveals why it is so popular!

My first impression of this is that I really like it – it strikes me as a serious yet accessible study Bible. The book opens with a fascinating selection of visual Bible aids that covers topics ranging from the history of Israel and the early church to the themes of the New Testament Letters!

There is an extensive topical index in the front of the book and a detailed concordance in the back, making whatever you might be looking for easy to find.

And the charts? Be still my heart! If you like lots of reference material in your Bible, then this is the one for you! There are detailed overviews and outlines of each book of the Bible, plus extensive notes and charts throughout!

The Open Bible - A Peek Inside

The review copy I received is written in the NKJV (my favorite translation!) and comes in a beautiful brown leathersoft cover that feels good to hold and to use. The font size is 9 point – aging eyes will want their reading glasses nearby – but it’s well worth pulling them out for this one!

I really like this Bible – once you start going through it, you won’t want to put it down. Already, I have bookmarked several pages for further study!

Did I mention there are some fascinating articles in the back of the book to delve into as well?

If you are serious about your faith and looking for a well-loved and trusted Bible to help you dig deep into the Scriptures, this one is for you!

I rate this 5 out of 5 stars and highly recommend the Open Bible to you!

I’ve never had one of these, but it does sound excellent as a resource.
