By now, I’m sure you’ve heard the news:
Google Friend Connect is going away after February 29th for non-Blogspot Bloggers and will be completely phased out for EVERYONE in the not-too-distant future!
That’s why I’m inviting you to join Create With Joy on Linky Followers – an awesome new tool that makes it EASY to follow your favorite blogs!
Here’s how this blog hop works:
1. Install Linky Followers on your site to participate!
2. Follow Create With Joy and It’s So Cheri, your hostesses and leave a comment!
3. Add your Blog Button to the link list.
4. Follow as many bloggers as you would like!
Have fun meeting and mingling with the many fabulous bloggers participating in this blog hop!
That’s too bad they are getting rid of the follwers widget for everyone! Thanks for sharing an alternative 🙂
Yes, I am following you now also. Thank you for following me. I am sad about the GFC going away. I am on blogspot so I know I am not in danger of losing it yet…
I was wondering what I was going to use.

Will Linky Followers start off free and then switched to ‘paid’?
I don’t need the alternative just yet as I’m on self hosted on blogspot, but I don’t want to jump on alternative bandwagon that I’ll end up being disappointed with or have to pay for!
Linked up, Happy WW!

Hi Tracy
I can’t answer your question re: the future of Linky Followers, but I can tell you that Google has publicaly stated that they are retiring GFC and placing their focus on Google Plus, so even though, as a Blogspot blogger, you may not feel like you need to deal with the issue yet, I’d encourage you to start looking into alternatives and growing your subscriber base on non-GFC platforms now. You can have both GFC and Linky Followers on your blog, so I would encourage you to try it out – you can always delete it if you don’t like it!
You can also look into other alternatives (which I’m also doing) – ultimately you need to decide what options work best for you, your blog, and your readers, and what you feel most comfortable with. Right now, everyone is jumping on the Google Plus bandwagon because that’s what Google is telling GFC users to do, but I haven’t done that yet because I’m not fully comfortable with that option.
Best of luck to you – I like GFC and am very disappointed that it is going away.

Good morning. With moving and everything else happening around here, I’ve been procrastinating addressing this nasty change.
I need to do it. I don’t think it will happen for a few weeks, though.
In the interim, how clever of you to come up with ideas like this.
Thanks for sharing this on Alphabe-Thursday’s Letter ‘N”.
