Happy WOYWW, dear friends! For those of you who are dropping by for the first time, it’s What’s On Your Workdesk Wednesday. Today, I’d like to chat about Ink Pad Storage!
When I first started stamping, I used to dream of owning one of those fancy custom organizers that you see in the magazines. However, my budget never allowed for such a splurge, so I improvised. I converted three mismatched CD holders into a custom design that has allowed me the flexibility to re-design as my storage needs have changed. Today, as I uncovered two “lost” boxes of ink pads from last year’s move, and rebuilt my storage for the umpteenth time, I realized what a blessing this turned out to be!

Looks great, and I’ve tried to keep an eye open for these cd and cassette holders, but I’m just not finding them so far. For now, I keep my inks in a storage drawer, but the one thing I’m not sure of is this… I remember hearing you should store your inks upside down; but then I heard how an ink might leak that way, and I definitely don’t want THAT kind of mess. So, I think I may start storing them right side up again. It looks like that’s what you do.

Hi Tina,
I know you’re supposed to keep them upside down but most of the time I don’t have problems (and I don’t want my lids falling off and creating messes either!)
The majority of my ink pads are CTMH and Stampin Up. Those ink pads are designed in such a way that they are actually stored upside down (even though they appear to be right side up)!
As for the rest – if I ever do have a problem – I just flip them over before use. But that usually only happens when they get old and ready for re-inking or replacing anyway.
(And – I generally replace as I don’t have the funds to buy a bunch of re-inkers!)
Always fun to organize…sometimes just hard to find the products to do it with inexpensively. I’d like more space but I have more than most and I just need to quit adding things. Enjoy WOYWW #30 this week

This is fabulous storage for ink pads. I just realised I actually own one of these! I am going to fix it to the wall near the dining table and give it a go instead of using my overcrowding cupboard! Thank you so much for sharing! Julie Ann xx #39

You have done a great job with your ink pad storage it looks really lovely and neat and tidy. My inks are in sets of 4 little draws which also holds some cut and dry and a blending pad so all in one place

I always like seeing how other people store their stash, including inks. I have tried various methods but always outgrow them. Hopefully I am settled now for a while!

Great storage. I have a cd rack I use for tubes of paint. I can lay them on their side and see the colours through the tops and pull out the one I need. Fab! Thanks for sharing and happy woyww Liz@119

What nice ink pad storage – very nice and organized. I have a few ink pads and don’t have them organized – at all. As a matter of fact, I don’t have any of the craft supplies really organized…..

Wow your ink pad storage is fantastic, I did buy something to hold my inkpads in but now I have way out grown it, so now I have a shelf lol. I think you certainly did the right thing, wish I had thought of that lol. Thanks for the great links. Happy late woyww 🙂 Kezzy xxx
I like your ink storage idea and how it is flexible for different sized ink pads. I used to have one of those big wooden CD holders. It might be in hubby’s closet or it might have been given away. I’m good for now with a cassette holder on the wall in my closet. It is good only because I recently downsized my ink to those I use most (and A Muse because I sell them). I have a bunch of teardrop sized pads in a shallow drawer next to my desk for when I need color. I actually started post on ink awhile ago. It is still in draft form. I love to hear what people think about ink. We all have our opinions.

I store my teardrops in a portable plastic container that I love because I can carry it with me wherever I go!
(Have supplies – will travel!)
I just wish I had that many ink pads! Impressive!
