Feature & Follow Friday #119

Feature & Follow

This weekend, the inquiring minds at Book Blogger Feature & Follow Friday want to know:

When you step out of your USUAL genre, what do you like to read?
Best books in that genre?

I thought this would be a fabulous opportunity to begin compiling a selection of good books for my 2013 Reading List, so here goes!

I love reading all types of books, but I currently review a lot of Christian Non-Fiction for my blog. When I step outside of that genre, I particularly enjoy reading books about:

  • Art Journaling and Creativity
  • Autobiographies and Memoirs
  • Pets

Here are a few books in these genres that are on my wish list:

Cat Daddy:
What the World’s Most Incorrigible Cat
Taught Me About Life, Love And Coming Clean

Cat Daddy

This book tells the poignant story of cat behaviourist and Animal Planet star Jackson Galaxy and his 13-year relationship with Benny the Cat, and provides advice for living with and caring for the felines in your life!

Faith Books & Spiritual Journaling:
Expressions Of Faith Through Art

Faith Books

Sharon Soneff and a team of artists explore how we can deepen and transform our faith through the creation of beautifully illustrated prayer books, altered hymnals, and handcrafted books and journals.

Journal Fodder 365:
Daily Doses of Art for the Art Addict

Journal Fodder 365

This book promises a year-long adventure in drawing and writing, in painting and collage, and in the flotsam and jetsam of your daily experiences. Are you ready to take flight?

I Am Nujood, Age 10 and Divorced

I Am Nujood

This is the true story of a Yemeni girl who was forced to marry a man three times her age – a practice that is common in the Middle East! Nujood ultimately fled the abusive situation she was living in to the courthouse of the capital and defied her country’s customs by fighting for her “rights”.  Hers is a story that must be heard!

What are some books that you would like to read? Please share your thoughts and links in the comments!

That journal fodder book looks very interesting! I’d love to flip through it.

  2. I see you have a kitty too. I just got mine about 2 months ago or maybe 3? Lily is the perfect kitty for my daycare and so great with the kids. It seems like I’ve had her forever.

I thought that I had already followed you. I’ve been visiting your site for a while now. =D

Wow. We have very similar tastes! Especially the journal books! I love memoirs. I love animals and I love journals! Hmmm…but I really want to read some classics as a goal.

I was shocked by the preliminary story of the young girl forced to marry. That is very sad.
