On Distant Shores – Book Review
Are you in the mood to travel back in time to World War II and wrap yourself in a sweet romance? If so, add On Distance Shores by Sarah Sundin – the second book in the Wings of Nightingale Series – to your reading list!
On Distance Shores takes place between July 1943 and April 1944 when fate brings Lt. Georgiana Taylor – a mathematically-challenged flight nurse who fears failing in the face of crisis – and Sgt. John “Hutch” Hutchinson – a pharmacist who longs to be an officer – together during the war. Both Georgie and Hutch have left families, friends and fiancés behind to serve their country – yet circumstances draw them together and friendship blossoms between them.
How will the pressures of war change their relationships with their loved ones at home – and with one another? Will their faith be enough to sustain them through difficult times?
On Distant Shores is an enjoyable story by Sarah Sundin, an author with a knack for crafting historically accurate novels filled with relatable characters.
If you love war dramas and Christian romance and have ever wondered what life in the Army was like during WWII for the men and women who served during that era – this book’s for you!
The questions at the end of the book make this a perfect pick for your Book Club as well!
