The Unexplainable Church: A Bible Study Of Acts 13-28 by Erica Wiggenhorn
As Christians, God has called, ordained and equipped us to do good works – but He does not expect us to do them on our own. He has baptized us into the body of Christ. He has called us to be an integral, functioning part of His church.
Bible teacher Erica Wiggenhorn believes that the church has the power to transform our lives and the lives of everyone around us, and that we can better understand our role in the church by studying the book of Acts.
To that end, Erica has written The Unexplainable Church: Reigniting The Mission Of The Early Believers – a 10-week inductive Bible Study of Acts 13-28. This book takes us on an in-depth journey through an exciting portion of Scripture that examines the ministry and missionary journeys of Paul and his role in early church growth. We’ll also explore how God calls, equips and prepares us for ministry.
If you are looking for an insightful Bible study that helps you to dig deep into God’s Word, then The Unexplainable Church is for you! Over a period of 10 weeks, through 50 lessons, Erica provides a verse-by-verse study filled with biblical, theological and historical insights, text-based discussion questions and room for journaling your answers.
The Unexplainable Church is beautifully written and provides us with a much fuller understanding of the people we encounter in the latter half of Acts as we journey with Erica through this study. One of the things that I like about the study is how she brings the ancient text and people of the Bible to life. Of Paul, she writes:
This fifty-day journey is an invitation to walk alongside a man who never got over the awe and wonder of God’s grace. For years he had sought God’s favor through a religion of works, spiritual disciplines, knowledge, and service. Then he met Jesus, and after approximately a decade of understanding Jesus as the Messiah, he finally came to the realization of the fullness of His grace. And he was never the same again.
Another thing I like about this study is that it challenges us not just to read about Acts, but to live out God’s call for the church in our own lives. Erica writes:
Your story is Acts 29. And mine. And every member of the unexplainable church who calls himself or herself by the name “Christian.” And since this story has not yet been fully written, you and I get to decide how it ends.
If you are looking for an inspiring Bible study for yourself, your small group, or your adult or women’s Bible ministry program, The Unexplainable Church deserves your consideration!
I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars.

Acts has always been one of my favorite books. I look forward to doing this study in the future.
Acts is one of my favorite books too Traci – I just ordered the study that covers the first part of Acts and can’t wait to share that book with you as well! 🙂
