Quilling – the Renaissance art of rolling, folding and gluing thin strips of papers into decorative shapes and intricate designs – has experienced a resurgence among paper crafters in recent years. I tried my hand at Quilling once. I soon discovered that while the concept of Quilling is easy to learn, the core skills needed to master this art – namely, a keen eye, good eye-to-hand coordination, and patience – are not my greatest strengths.
So, I was delighted to receive this beautiful card from Antonella DeFalco, a master of the art! This week, the theme at Inspiration Avenue is Hope. Earlier this week, I came across a poem by the Russian poet, Alexander Pushkin, that I wanted to share. Although the poem was written in 1825. its timeless message spoke to my heart this week – perhaps it will speak to yours as well! There are two English translations of the poem available – this version was translated by M. Kneller.
If By Life You Were Deceived…

Don’t be dismal, don’t be wild!
In the day of grief, be mild
Merry days will come, believe.
Heart is living in tomorrow;
Present is dejected here;
In a moment, passes sorrow;

Very pretty. I envy you as I have never felt the love with quilling!! I had a little set when I was a kid (not much patience) & didn't get along with it!!
