Happy Memorial Day Weekend, dear friends!
This week, as we celebrate the beginning of the summer vacation season
And remember Americans who have given their lives for their country
I invite you to share some great Advice with us
Or amuse us with stories of Advice gone bad!
Question Of The Week
What’s the best (or worst) advice you’ve ever been given?
What’s one piece of advice would you like to share with others?
Who can you always count on to give you sound advice?
Please share your answer(s) with us at Friendship Friday!
Need some inspiration?
Here’s a few quotes to get your creative juices flowing!

(Though she very seldom followed it).
Lewis Carroll
No one wants advice – only corroboration.
John Steinbeck
The best way to give advice to your children
Is to find out what they want and then
Advise them to do it.
Harry S. Truman
Parents can only give good advice or
Put them on the right paths,
But the final forming of a person’s character
Lies in their own hands.
Anne Frank
I owe my success to having listened respectfully
To the very best advice,
And then going away and doing the exact opposite.
Gilbert K. Chesterton
No one can give you better advice than yourself.
Marcus Tullius Cicero

Francis Bacon
When we ask for advice,
We are usually looking for an accomplice.

My Answer – Best Advice
My family always stressed the importance of
Getting a good education.
My mother sacrificed to see that I could attend
The best schools possible.
In the process, my teachers instilled within me a
Lifelong love of learning – for its own sake –
That I am blessed with to this day!
What about you?
Inspire us with some great or humorous advice!

Oh my the worst advice ever: seriously forgive me for this but for the sake of wisdom I will share: “Do whatever feels right as long as you are in love with the person. ” Received that horrible piece of advice as a young teen (pre-teen) UM- NO! Of course I was not a Christian nor was the person BUT wow truly that is the worst piece of garbage advice ever uttered in my opinion. Worse yet – it took me years to realize -and a God to show me Truth and heal all of the consequences from that rubbish thinking! hmmm…not sure if I will blog about it BUT probably should at some point. Will prayerfully ponder. Have a poem to share this week, though!

Hi Dawn
Thanks for sharing this – you are SO right – this IS bad advice – particularly for young teens/pre-teens who do not have the wisdom or discernment or experience to make wise choices or realize the consequences of poor ones!
Unfortunately it is the message that our society communicates to those who are not grounded in God’s word!
Have a wonderful week and I look forward to reading your poem! 🙂

Well I thought I should put it with Inspire Me Monday BUT I am like a little kid, Ramona and get too excited to wait. During QT this morning and while pondering the giants in my life God gave me words. Happy weekend!

Hi There! I am always late to your party, today I am on time! Happy Memorial Weekend to you. First off I am thankful to all that have served or are serving. On to your question.
From my personal experience: a weight is lifted when we forgive someone & move on rather than harbor anger, hate & resentments. Life lesson learned & my best practice.
I am sharing grilling sauce recipes & my favorite salad dressing to pre-make for taking to BBQ’s. Drop by & grab a new one 😉

Woo hoo Theresa – you are first on the linky this week! 🙂
Forgiveness is GREAT advice – thanks for reminding us to put it into practice!
Your recipes sound awesome! I can’t wait to stop by and see what’s cooking! 🙂
What’s the best (or worst) advice you’ve ever been given?
Not to wait to marry someone with simmilar interests and outlook on life as me. Luckily, I did not follow it.
What’s one piece of advice would you like to share with others?
Do not let the moments pass you by- live life out loud.
Who can you always count on to give you sound advice?
My husband.
Thanks for hosting! What a great idea.
I think the best advice I ever got was to be kind to everyone. There are times I have to bite my lip because I just don’t like someone, but I am always nice to them. My sister tells me that I am being fake, but I would rather come off as being fake than hurt someone’s feelings, even if I don’t like them. I think my kindness has gotten me pretty far in life, so yeah, I think that is the best advice I have ever received.

How wise of your parents to stress the importance of education and how lucky you were to have teachers who could inspire you. My father was an educator, so the importance of education has been prominent in my life. Great question and answer …

I look forward to this post every week! Thank you for taking the time and dedication to compile these wonderful, thought-provoking questions!
One of the best pieces of advice I was given years ago was to never give out advice I would never follow myself. That thought process always makes me stop and think twice when someone asks my opinion or guidance on a topic.
Have a fantastic weekend and blessings everyone!!!

Thank you Michelle – your feedback means SO much! 🙂
How much fun is this! The best advice I have gotten is. Be who YOU are…I follow it and I teach it to my kids.
The best advice I ever got was from my grandmother, she told me to never depend on another person for my happiness in life.

Great advice!
The best advice I was ever given was to know that I am the best advocate for my children. My advice is that you should follow your heart, often you know the best thing to do even if it may not be easy. I can always count on my mother for mostly good advice.

Love it – esp the advice that you were given! Thanks so much for sharing your advice with us Beth!

Good morning and Happy Friday my friend! I’ve linked up and now must run out for a while. Will also promote on the Ruby community page as well as our FB page. I posted a link on my FB page as well. I love your blog hops! They are so inspiring and thought-provoking. You might not like my post today ;o) but I guess I’m old enough to realize everyone is not always going to see the world through my eyes. Would love your feedback, though – I value your insight and wisdom. Have a wonderful weekend! BIG Hugs, N

Old advice, but good advice – never go to bed angry! 🙂
It’s Not the Heat, It’s the Humidity
Good morning- thanks for hosting this great linky! I am responsible for the strawberry posts.. got a little carried away with this wonderful summer berry this week! Rebecca @ Natural Mothers Network ( Seasonal Celebration Sunday ) x
1. You have to be pretty to make it
2. Don’t make any permanent decisions when you are angry.
3. I can usually depend on a few of my girls to give good advice.
Hope you’ll have a lovely weekend!
Ooh, I’ll definitely have to partake in this for the future..
A piece of advice I’d love to pass on would be: “If a guy doesn’t give you the time of day he’s not worth it… a guy that’s truly interested in always makes the time.”
I’ve been listening to a lot of my single friends share complaints about some of their recent dates and outings and I’m always reminding them of this.

The best piece of advice I received was “know, understand, and love yourself”. That was one of those things that took me a while to come to terms with – I always thought and looked for love in “all the wrong places” as the song said. Once I took the time to learn to love myself then I found my soul mate, when I wasn’t looking for him – but I knew that I didn’t “need” him to be complete. That is a lesson we all can learn.
This is my first time and I’m a new follower. Thanks for posting the question.
Hugs –
Carol

Welcome Carole – I’m so delighted you’ve joined us and I appreciate your thoughts on this question! I agree that the best relationships are formed when we don’t “need” someone else to complete us but when we are two wholes joining as one!
Have a wonderful week and I hope to see you again soon! 🙂
My school motto was Non sine pulvere palma, which can be translated to ‘No reward without labour’ or ‘the prize cannot be won without effort’. At the time, I didn’t really appreciate true value of that advice.

Best advice? At all times be yourself. It’s hard when you are different from your peers. But it is important to stay true to who you are. Happy to hop on this lovely party my friend Thank you for sharing at the Thursday Favorite Things blog hop and for your bloggy friendship xo

Could not agree more – both with the advice – AND with the difficulty in following through! I am SO glad you are joining us for Friendship Friday Katherine! 🙂
The best advice is: Proverbs 3: 5 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. 6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

Great post – these really get me thinking!
I don’t know what my worst piece of advice is….my best piece of advice is to follow your gut!
Thanks for participating in SASS this week.

Thanks for hosting, and thanks for joining us for Friendship Friday!
No specific bad advice that I can remember, but after my daughter was born I was overwhelmed by all of the advice from medical professionals, books, friends, you name it. It seemed like everyone had opposing ideas and none of it seemed to be working anyway (probably because I was too stressed out trying to follow all of it). I finally drew inspiration from my two grandmas and also from thinking about indigenous women all over the world who nurture their babies much more simply. They don’t have all of the things we supposedly “need” but they nurture with love. Then I started to figure out how to make it work on my own. It saved my sanity big time.

Great Share! The opposing advice you received on how to raise your daughter reminds me of the opposing advince one receives on health and diet! In the end, sometimes it all comes down to common sense and listening to our natural instincts! I hope you have a great (and sane) week!
Hi There,
I’m stopping in from the Tuesday Train. I’d love a visit back 🙂

What wonderful quotes!
I am always amazed to read ones I’ve not seen before! And they always make me ponder!
I try to not give advice. Out loud.
I do think about advice a lot, though.
Thanks for a thoughtful link to start of Alphabe-Thursday’s letter “A”.
