Welcome To Wordless Wednesday At Create With Joy!
Quote Of The Day
Cats are glorious creatures
Who must on no accounts be underestimated.
Their eyes are fathomless depths of cat-world mysteries.
Lesley Anne Ivory
This week, JP from A Quiet Corner wondered how
Legend and Tsunami received their names.
Great question, JP – this week I’ll share Legend’s story!
Naming kittens is both hugely exciting and challenging!
No matter how many names you come up with in advance,
They always seem to go out the window
The moment you meet your kitten…
Each kitten has a unique personality of their own which
Deserves to be discovered and recognized by the perfect name!
What a huge responsibility and honor we bear!
When Legend first came to his home, he bore the name of Grizzly
Because, as a kitten, his first caretaker saw him as a big brown bear!
For us, however, that name conjured up images of ferociousness and
Legend is the sweetest, most lovable and loving cat you will ever meet!
For that reason I wanted to name him Romeo – but my husband refused.
Somehow, Romeo offended his male sensibilities!
After several days of interacting with our “bear” –
A nickname that sticks to this day –
We discovered that Legend has a larger than life personality!
Everything this cat does is super-sized!
He always finds a way to be the center of our attention.
He always finds a way to be the object of our affection.
He always finds a way to be the topic of discussion!
Before long, we recognized that a feline
Legend was developing right before our eyes –
And hence, his name was bestowed!
Great question, JP –
I’ll share the story behind Tsunami’s name another week!
Have any other questions about Legend and Tsunami?
Ask away!
I’ll do my best to answer your questions
In the comments or in an upcoming post!

I love that quote from Lesley Anne Ivory. I really do love the names you chose for your cats.
Thanks, Danielle. They suit them to a tee!
I loved learning how Legend was named…you were so right to rename him, Grizzly just doesn’t suit a sweet personality. Looking forward to hearing Tsunami’s story!
Can’t wait to share it. Have a fabulous week Monica – give your girls my love!
I got to admit Legend is an ace poser LOL
Have a purrrfectlicious week & thanks for hosting 😉
Isn’t he just the model cat? This photo’s fit for a centerfold!
Have an awesome week Steve!
Thanks for the great post & for hosting & God bless!
You too Laurie!
Reading how Legend got his name was a lot of fun! Great post. I’ve been really sick today and have just been the worst off a moment ago, to be cheered up by this post. Thanks for always hosting a fabulous link party!
I’m so glad my post brightened your day! I hope you feel better soon. I adored seeing your beautiful photos today! 🙂
I always just had the perfect name pop into my head when I got my kitties!
It’s so nice when that happens! Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn’t. It took several days before Legend’s name emerged!
Great story for how he got his name. I swear sometimes, my goats are born and immediately tell me their name. Others it takes forever to figure out!
I love your goats and their stories! Looking forward to visiting you – have a great day!
Thanks for sharing how Legend got his name. So cool. Great shot too. Looks so comfy!
Legend knows how to find a comfortable spot wherever he goes.
This loveseat (like just about everything else in our house) belongs to him (according to him!)
Thank you for hosting!
My pleasure!
Sweet. Love that cushy perch!!!
So does he Meryl! Hope you’re having a rocking WW!
It is very interesting learning how you came up with the name Legend! The name certainly suits him. I like giving my dogs names that fit their characters!:) Thanks for hosting.
I love that! What are your dog’s names, Judy?
I used to have a cat that looked just like that! I miss my Max! I’m visiting today as a co-host from Showin’ Some Love Blog Hop! Hope you’ll make your way back around to me as well! . ~Kat at No Holding Back
He is gorgeous, as always! My sweet kitty gentleman, Sebastian, passed away suddenly on the operating table in February 2 days before my Birthday. He was only 8 and he was my everything. He loved kisses and snuggles and came when I called him. He would reach out and paw you if you passed him without a notice. He loved popcorn and his front paws were shorter than his back paws, so he had a little waddle of a walk, which was adorable. I miss him everyday and find myself crying often still. I feel so hurt that our time was so short together and that he left me so suddenly. I would never have been ready to say goodbye to him, but my heart aches painfully to hold him in my arms…just one more time…..I know he is waiting in Heaven & he has visited me in my dreams…..
Kristen,
My heart hurt for you when I read your story! I lost my previous cat, Adonis, right before my birthday as well so your story brought back so many poignant memories! Like Sebastian, my time with sweet Adonis was far too short. I am so sorry for your loss!
Thanks Ramona for the party. I always enjoy linking up here.
Angel
I’m so happy Angel! Comments like this always make my day! 🙂
Oh my gosh I loved reading about Legend. He is a very handsome boy and I think the name serves him well.
Thank you for hosting !

Mines up as well at AussiePomm – Vivid Sydney
Have a great day!!
I love how he got his name!! When I had my 3rd, I realized that you can’t name your baby before you meet them so I withheld my final decision until I met her. I thought I was going to name her Tillie if she was a girl and Israel is she was a boy, but the name that come out of my mouth when they asked me was Emory. Not even on the list! 🙂 Sounds like it’s the same way with cats!
Totally! It’s fun to plan in advance – but really – until you meet them – you never really know! 🙂
Beautiful photo!
Thanks!
Wonderful story and so true! On top of that I think some felines grow into their name (keep in mind my two girls are named Storm and Cougar), as it appears that Legend certainly did.
Love it Kris!
Thanks for the linkup!
We got a new KITTEN! 😀

Congratulations – your kitten is adorable! 🙂
I think Legend is a great name for a Pretty Kitty…. even if it’s a full grown male cat they are all “pretty kitties” to me!!
Love the name Legend. So glad you renamed him!
Happy WW!
What a great story! I’ve always had a strange fascination with names, and love hearing the stories behind them. Happy WW! 🙂
What a sweet baby!
Legend is a handsome devil no matter what name he comes too 😉
I’ve always wondered if they are maine coon cats?
Yes they are – and I’ll be sharing more about that in the weeks to come! 🙂
What a great story of how Legend got his name. Our mom has had the same trouble with kittens coming to us with names that just haven’t fit them at all. Legend is great name, partly because we have never met a kitty or any other animal by that name. Can’t wait to hear about Tsunami. Purrs and hugs, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Josette
Can’t imagine having to come up with all of those names! Naming cats is an amazingly difficult task!
Thank you for hosting! It is always nice to meet up with other bloggers:)
I really enjoyed learning how Legend got his name. You are so right about cats personalities, each one is so different and unique.
Thanks for hosting.
Thank you for hosting!
Love the name, Legend.
Truly a gorgeous creature – a sight to behold. A legend! WOOF WOOF!
Can you believe my human actually had my name FIRST, before me? She knew that her next cat was going to be online, and she has a history of picking out names that are exceptionally quirky and not always family-friendly! So she decided on Sparkle… whether I liked it or not! Fortunately it suits me.
such a cuty little cat..:)
Happy Wordless Wednesday! My entry is here.
Legend looks so cute perched in that couch.
Wonderful names for wonderful cats! I agree, any name you thought of before you meet your cats is gone in the wind, once you see them face to face. We always wait and name them after we’ve had them a week or so.
What a great story! You put much thought into naming your cats! I can only imagine how Tsunami got his name!
I’m a cat lover, too, and we have two cats, so I loved your story about how Legend got his name!
And, through you, he becomes a legend outside of his comfortable home. Loved the story … I know the struggle to come up with names. We named our boys by personality as well. Fonzi was the Alpha kitty from day one and Chachi was the mischievous follower. Diva Rose became Diva the Devil Child after living with her for a few days so it does matter … the name says a lot about them. Enjoyed this post …

Thanks Andrea – I love your cat names too! 🙂
Lovely to hear how he got his name! x
That’s a beautiful cat and a great story. Happy WW. 🙂
I love the story behind the name of ‘Legend.’ Several years ago we bought a kitten at a pet shop. She was six weeks old. I named her in the car and I still can’t explain exactly why her name popped into my head! She was gray striped, and I named her Misty Gray. The name just seemed to fit perfectly! Can’t wait to hear how ‘Tsunami’ got his (or her?) name!
Love the story of Legend’s name! He is such a beautiful cat. Those eyes are gorgeous! Give him some love for me. 🙂
Thanks Susie – I will! 🙂
Great story behind Legend’s name!!
Long ago my husband tried to name our cat Marjorie, but everyone else called her Smiley because she was always smiling. And to this day Smiley it is 🙂
Love your story Paula!
Thanks for hosting again this week. Loving the pictures this week.
What a pretty kitty. 🙂
Legend-ary!
