Happy WOYWW, dear friends! August is upon us and it’s one of my favorite times of the year! Not only is it my birth month (I’m not sure why, but my mom keeps asking, how many times can a girl turn 25?) but it’s also the month when back to school supplies hit the marketplace in full force – which means, you can find treasures for your craft room without even trying!
Case in point: Yesterday, I am at the grocery store with my husband. I am standing in the dairy section, picking this week’s yogurt flavors. Prince Charming leaves me alone for a minute to search for some essential. I turn my head slightly and – lo and behold – something pink and pretty catches my eye!
So, I do what any normal woman with a weakness for pretty pink things would do. I drop whatever yogurt containers I’m holding in my hands at that moment into the shopping cart and I take off!
Faster than you can say “Jack Robinson”, I whirl my cart around and zoom over to see what has caught my fancy. I pull an object off the shelf. In my hands sits the cutest little lunch box you ever did see!
Now, I must tell you: I never understood the Hello Kitty craze. There’s a whole store of Hello Kitty stuff in our local mall that I’ve walked by time after time without batting an eyelash. But – there must have been fairy dust in the air because, at that moment – I fell in love.
Hello Kitty! I think I’m smitten!
And then – as if kittens and cupcakes and pretty pink boys weren’t enough to send me on a sugar rush – I see a second flash of pink!
I bend down and pull another tin box off the shelf.
I could hardly believe my eyes! I’d found another Hello Kitty box in a different pattern! This tin is filled with flowers and birdies and buggies and rainbows! There may be clouds in the sky but in kitty land, apparently everything is pink!
I feel like I’ve hit the jackpot!
Now, Prince Charming must be feeling mighty magnanimous that day, because he raises an eyebrow – but not a fuss – when the tins somehow find their way into our shopping cart and into our home.
Now, if you have young daughters at home, these tins would be perfect for packing their first school lunches in!
In my home, however, these pretty pink kitty boxes will soon be adorning my craft room in some sweet corner and holding a bevy of trinkets and treasures that I can easily tote from place to place!
So – that’s what’s on my desk this week. What’s on yours?
By the way, be sure to enter the Chicken Soup For The Soul – 20th Anniversary Giveaway! The giveaway is open worldwide through August 20th and there will be 3 winners!
Also, be sure to drop by Wordless Wednesday to see who’s auditioning for “The Voice”!
Have a fabulous week!

LOL, too cute. I think Hello Kitty is adorable. I didn’t think they still had actual stores inside malls anymore what with the economy! Cute lunch tins (or well, embellishment tins now)!! Brigita #108
Isn’t it funny how we can walk by things over and over and not think twice about them then all of a sudden just love it to pieces and wonder how we missed it lol
have a wonder WOYWW hugs Nikki 7
CUTE tins – pink isn’t my colour – not with red hair! – but I think they are gorgeous. Enjoy finding just the right things to put in them.

Yes, I definitely got the yogurt – now I just have to remember to eat it!
Wish we lived nearby – wouldn’t it be fun to go on a shopping spree?
We had plenty of Hello Kitty in our house while my daughter was growing up. She liked the little bunny and the ballet stuff they used to carry. Pens, pencils, erasers, backpacks, pencil boxes – they were everywhere! Have fun organizing!
Happy Pink Saturday!

Thank you for sharing your story about Miss Kitty at “Tell Me a Story.” These certainly will be lovely to sort your craft supplies in. Your husband is a jewel not to raise an eyebrow!
Great find! I rarely use lunch boxes for food either, holding crafty items is way more practical! My daughter loves Hello Kitty, or cats in general really ? I added the link to the Hello Kitty Unicorn Mermaid Cake I made for her birthday this year ?
They make good supply boxes. I was never a Hello Kitty person but I can’t tell you how many I’ve crocheted over the years as the Kitty has been pretty popular in our family. Finding those little yellow noses has been a real treat.
