This Week’s Theme – Holiday Fun
Thanks to all of you who shared your 2013 Projects with us last week! We had an amazing discussion! Now that we’ve gotten “work” out of the way, it’s time to talk about something fun!
As the end of the year approaches, so do our favorite end-year Holidays! That’s the focus of this week’s discussion at Friendship Friday!
- What is your favorite Holiday and why?
- How will you celebrate that Holiday this year?
- Share a favorite holiday tradition – old or new!
We look forward to reading your comments, your Friendship Friday posts, and all of your holiday related posts – past or present – at this week’s Friendship Friday party!
Have Fun!
Have fun connecting with one another – building friendships is what this community is all about!

My favourite holiday is definitely Christmas. I like how this holiday brings families together. I will spend it with my mom and brother as usual. A favourite tradition for me is setting up a memory table for my departed loved ones with their pictures, Christmas decorations and candles. Thanks a lot for hosting and have a great weekend.
I love Christmas too, Judy – but Thanksgiving is a very close 2nd!
I love your Memory Table tradition – I think that is a new one to me!
I may have to keep that in mind for the future!
Have a wonderful week and thanks for being such a faithful Friendship Friday participant! 🙂
I love Christmas but I think Thanksgiving is even better. I love FALL! 🙂
Each year, since we began to homeschool, we have done a thankful tree (last year we did a thankful turkey). For each day of November until Thanksgiving we add a leaf (or like last year a feather) and write what we are thankful for on it. My daughter looks forward to it, and I like that it encourages each of us, and all who visit, to think about all the things we have to be thankful for.
A Thankful Tree: What a beautiful idea!
Not only does it encourage the practice of gratitude – for those of you with practical streaks – it gives you the opportunity to get double duty out of those artificial Christmas trees! 🙂
I am loving the ideas shared so far: keep them coming! 🙂
I’m not sure about holiday fun but gosh I’m in need of a holiday. Hubby has just had a week of (well kind of) but he was on call which meant we had to stay close to home and internet/email. He was called in far too many times to actually call it a break.
I think next time round, I should make a holiday at home starting with some crafting ideas for my three girls.
Thanks for the link party.
I know what you mean about being in need of a holiday, and I think your plan is fabulous!
I’ve also taken the same approach: to try to plan some fun times so that my husband’s schedule is not so hard n me!
Have a fabulous week and I hope your husband is there to spend the holiday season with you and the girls!
Thank you for hosting!
My pleasure Jessica! Bet you are looking forward to finding some great deals in the upcoming months!
I am strictly a Holiday person because I love to decorate. Inside & out. I really love all the holidays because I can get together with all my children & grandchildren. This year because I have a daughter that lives in another state we’re having Thanksmas with her & then Christmas again with just my oldest daughter & son because my youngest son will be away working right through both holidays in North Carolina, but I’ll have something for him when he gets back. I love Halloween so I can see all the little ones dressed up, but it’s been so cold hardly anyone comes any more 🙁 I miss when my children were little. Have a great weekend & great questions this week. Hugs
Hi Marie,
I would imagine this is definitely your favorite time of year!
The holidays are bittersweet during years like these that I probably won’t see my cross-country family, but I’m grateful for those I will see!
Look forward to enjoying some holly jolly times with you in these next few weeks!
Thanks so much for hosting! I had to really think about the favorite holiday! It used to be July 4th since it is my birthday! But, with grandkids, I have to say Christmas. It is so much fun with little ones and their pure joy!
Oh, the 4th of July – what a wonderful summer holiday that is!
How awesome it must have been to have fireworks on your birthday every year as a child!
But Christmas with the kids – those are special times!
Looking forward to plenty of Christmas joy this season!
Christmas used to be my favorite. I am praying that that Love might somehow find its way back into our home even if it is with strangers who would like to feel that Love. Somehow, I miss that family union which is not there. Hope this year brings that miracle and we can feel that Unity as well as include some stranger that needs Love.
I believe that I need to make that change to make these days special for others so I feel that happiness. Praying for those doors to open.
God Bless!
Hope you are able to find the Christmas miracle you need Emy so that you will have a joyous season! 🙂
Hi Joy,
Thanks for friendship friday, am having a ball, inbetween redoing my blog, which stopped working, so I had to redo. I am following you in all ways I know how, and you would be most welcome to visit me at http://www.wabyerley.blogspot.com, and if you would like to follow me as well I would be very happy. Not much on the blog at the moment, just redone it.
I hope that you have a wonderful day and weekend.
Great big hug.
Love and best wishes.
Anne
Dear Anne,
I’m so glad to see you this week – especially if you’re having issues with your blog!
I hope that you get everything working again soon.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Hi there, first time linking up, I saw you at FPL’s TGIF hop!
My favorite end-of-year holiday is Christmas, also my birthday and why MY name is Joy.
We spend Christmas Eve with just my nuclear family, and Christmas Day with my Mother, sisters, etc., and also visit my husband’s family. It’s a lot of running around on Christmas Day, but it’s nice to see everyone.
Welcome Joy – I’m so glad you found and joined ys!
How awesome that you are a Christmas baby – Joy is certainly a fitting name for you!
Hope you’ll make joining us a regular event. Have a wonderful weekend! 🙂
My fave holiday is of course, Christmas. I love every year to create a new ornament that I date. I do love Thanksgiving as well since I decorate and have a ton of people over. 🙂

thank you for hosting and for your continued bloggy friendship.
What is your favorite Holiday and why? Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays ( I know everyone usually picks Christmas and I like that too, of course) but Thanksgiving and the gathering of friends and family to celebrate and give thanks will always be my favorite.
How will you celebrate that Holiday this year? This year it will just be my hubby and Izzy. But we will join our daughter her family and inlaws for dessert.
Share a favorite holiday tradition – old or new! The only tradition that comes to mind is Christmas eve tradition of pizza!
xo
Katherine – So glad you could join us this week!
I loved your share, but what especially intrigued me was your Christmas Eve tradition of pizza!
That sounds like so much fun!
Have a fabulous week and thanks for hosting Thursday Favorites as well!
My favorite holidays include Thanksgiving and Christmas, I love Fall! =)
and I look forward to getting together with family and enjoying the wonders and special time of the Holidays!
Isn’t this a glorious time of year?
We are already testing new recipes for the upcoming holidays!
I hope to share some of them in the upcoming weeks on my blog! 🙂
Thank you for hosting this linky again! I could spend a loooong time on here going through all the great posts, but after going through a few of them it’s time to move on with my day 🙂
I know what you mean Missy!
Even if you can only visit a few people each week, that’s great – if everyone did that – everyone would receive a visit!
Happy Friendship Friday to you!
Thanks for the party! Have a great week. Linda
Thank you so much for hosting…you are a blessing! If you ever link-up on other blogs, please consider yourself invited at DRAH on Wednesdays!
Wow. This year will be very different for the holidays. And honestly, they’re going to be rough. Since I lost both my mom and father-in-law in May, we have to go through our first holiday season without them…Plus, my eldest got married *YAY*, but it will be different with her not home as well.
I am very thankful I still have my daddy and mother-in-law. And, my extended family is close. That’s a blessing too. But we will really miss my mom and father-in-law. There’s no way around it.
Thanks so much for hosting! I hope your day is blessed!
Hi Mary,
I’m so sorry to hear that this will be a challenging year for you!
I understand how difficult it is to experience the holidays for the first time without loved ones.
I am currently reading a book called Second Firsts which is all about that.
Look for the review in the upcoming weeks – I think it would be a good book for you! 🙂
Thanks, I will look for it! 🙂
Christmas is my most favorite holiday. So much so that I pretty much celebrate all year long. I have a Christmas blog (The Christmas Spirit) and us Christmas fanatics know all about Rudolph Day…that’s every 25th of the month (besides Christmas day) throughout the year. I try to do a post every Rudolph day and I also celebrate Christmas in July all month long over at my blog. In real life, my sons and I listen to Christmas music every Rudolph Day and during July. HaHa…we’re crazy! During the holiday season, I host a season long event and a Christmas reading challenge. In real life, I go all out with decorating and baking and music and movies and books! Yay! My sons love having a mom that loves Christmas so much. 🙂
This year, we’re starting our celebration early by starting our decorating the first week in November. Of course, we won’t put the trees up until November’s end/early December. I’m hoping to start back with my old tradition of a real tree this year. We’ll be doing the usual stuff…watching Christmas movies, reading the books, listening to the music. And the boys and I have already talked about making several trips around town to look at Christmas lights.
Our favorite tradition is to make and decorate sugar cookies every year. We make a night of it and play Christmas music while we’re baking. Fun!
I’ve linked up to my Rudolph Day post from yesterday. An exciting guest post from my friend Ken about new Christmas music releases this year. Yay!
Thanks for all of this fabulous info, Michelle – I must not be a true fanatic because I did not know about Rudolph Day!
Sounds like tons of fun!
Have a wonderful week and I am still smiling about that cat video!
Thanks for hosting this fantastic linky party! I appreciate all the work you do each week to bring this to all of us.
