The story takes place in 1913 when Cora Kensington – a young girl raised as the daughter of an impoverished farmer – learns she is not who she thought she was! In actuality, Cora discovers she is the daughter of a former Senator and a Montana copper-mining baron. As such, she is invited by her new family to take the “Grand Tour” – an all encompassing trip of Europe designed to finish off her education and her refinement.

As you can imagine, this is a both an exciting and confusing time in Cora’s life, and the Grand Tour sets the stage for epic adventure! Along the way, Cora discovers that the Grand Tour is more than just a trip: it is a spiritual journey – a chance for her to determine who she is and what she’s made of. It’s a time for Cora to discover how she fits into the world and who her real family and father are.

Cora must also tend to matters of the heart as she finds herself torn in different directions, and must contend with the seamier sides of wealth and fame as she deals with life as “Copper Cora”.

From the beautiful covers to the interesting characters, engaging dialog and vivid prose, Lisa T. Bergren has written a winning series that you’re sure to love – and Glittering Promises provides a satisfying conclusion to a rich story.

I rate Glittering Promises and The Grand Tour Series 5/5 Stars.
