Chronological Bible - Back Cover

The Chronological Life Application Study Bible is currently available in two translations: The King James Version (KJV) and the New Living Translation (NLT). The NLT translation, which released in November 2012, won the ECPA 2013 Christian Book Of The Year Award for Bibles. The KJV was released in November 2013. I opted to review the KJV Hardcover.

The most distinguishing feature about the Chronological Life Application Study Bible is that the books of the Bible are taken out of the traditional order that we are accustomed to seeing them arranged in and placed in chronological order.

Why should you consider adding the Chronological Life Application Study Bible to your library? Here’s what the editors have to say about the chronological feature:

The Bible does not proceed in chronological order from beginning to end. Indeed, the 66 books of the Bible do tell a unified story that begins at Genesis 1:1 and ends at Revelation 22:21, but the books are essentially organized by grouping similar kinds of books together (prophets, letters, etc.) rather than proceeding in chronological order…

The Chronological Life Application Study Bible helps the reader see the larger story by breaking up the traditional books of the Bible into 10 major eras of biblical history, intermingling the Scripture into a single, unified story from Creation to the end. This provides readers with a unique viewpoint on the biblical story, and it can give fresh and exciting insight into books of the Bible that might have been difficult to understand apart from knowing where they fall chronologically…

While helpful as a tool for gaining insight into the meaning, message, and significance of Scripture, a chronological Bible is not a substitute for a traditional Bible…

Chronological Bible Interior 3

I’ve wanted to read the Bible chronologically for a long time to help me to better understand the historical events of the Bible – particularly the Old Testament – so I am thrilled about the release of the Chronological Life Application Study Bible. To the best of my knowledge, although there are a few other chronological Bibles on the market, this is the most comprehensive chronological resource of its kind available. As a Bible student, I love seeing God’s Word in a fresh light – and I appreciate the many built-in study aids this Bible has to help keep me synced with where I would be if I were reading a traditional Bible!

Thanks for writing this up! This is one of my New Year’s Resolution – to begin reading through the Old Testament chronologically, and I have been looking for a Bible like this! My only hesitation is the versions…not really a fan of KJV or NLT…was hoping for NKJV or NAS! But thanks, I’ll definitely check it out! Visiting from SITS!

      Hi Katie,

Thanks for stopping by! This is an awesome Bible and I hope that they will be releasing it in more translations over time (I would think so, as the original Life Application Study Bible was released in multiple translations – you could always check with the publisher on this).

I am also a fan of the NKJV translation and an looking forward to reviewing a new Bible in that translation next month – but, it isn’t a chronological Bible. At the moment, this is the best chronological Bible I am aware of on the market.

      Have a wonderful weekend!

Hi! I found you from the SITS Saturday Sharefest. My husband and I are currently doing a Chronological Bible Reading Plan. It’s pretty interesting and we are enjoying it. I was surprised when the book of Job came in the middle of Genesis, but when I thought about it, it made perfect sense.

Before the Chronological Bible Reading plan, we finished the Bible in 90 days plan. That was a challenge, but well worth it.

Enjoy your weekend and be blessed!

Thanks for sharing Tonya! I’m sure that is just one of many surprises that await those of us who do a Chronological Bible Reading in 2014!
Have a wonderful weekend as well! 🙂
