WOYWW – Be Merry Christmas Card

Be Merry Christmas Card

Happy WOYWW to you, dear friends! Can you believe another week has come and gone? Christmas will be here before we know it…

This week I’ve been working on getting rid of “stuff”. You know – stuff that you love but don’t need – stuff that you love but don’t have space for – stuff that you really don’t love or need but feel obligated to hang on to – and just plain junk that you’ve been too lazy to dig through and get rid of!

One of the things I’ve discovered is that I have probably kept every Christmas card ever sent to me! Now, of course, there are special ones you MUST keep – those with heartfelt notes or those created out of love – but I found cards from professionals I no longer see – people I no longer remember – people whose signatures I can’t even read – and people who didn’t even bother to sign their cards!

So, one of this year’s tasks will be to go through all of the old memory boxes to try to keep only those things that are really important and store them in a more meaningful way – but in the meantime – here’s a card that incorporates a lovely sentiment from one of those recycled but no longer essential cards!

The card is designed using the peaceful colors wintery colors of blue, green and white – lovely new ribbon and gold star embellishments from WholePort – and ribbon scraps and a few sparkly red dew drops straight out of my stash box!

You have crafted not only a lovely Christmas card, but the perfect description of all types of STUFF. We moved last year and I am still sorting. If I don’t have a place for it in the new, smaller house, it has to go away (mostly…it’s the mostly part that is a little off the mark). Any way, I’m copying it and printing it out! Thanks.
Hope you have a great week ahead.

I think all crafters have a similar problem, I have bits and pieces tucked away, I know I don’t need them or will use them but I love em…LOL You are not alone.. Hope you have a wonderful week and happy WOYWW DeDe #5

I have BAGS filled of scraps that I just can’t seem to part with!
I actually DID make myself sort through some of them – “good bags”, “bad bags” – and kept the ones I really wanted to use!
I enjoy creating out of the scrap piles – but it doesn’t help my hoarding habit! 🙂

Great idea to use recycled products on your card. I love the stars on it. Thanks for joining us at the House of Cards.

Thanks Donna – I love those stars too! I actually had originally done the card with little blue flowers where the stars were but then came across the stars (which I had forgotten I had) and decided they would be perfect – so ended up pulling it apart and re-doing it in the version that you now see!

I applaud you for your turnout – I need to do something similar! The card looks fabulous. Happy WOYWW Helen 24

Oh, I know what you mean…and you’ve created a wonderful card. Sometimes I’ve used parts of a card someone gave to me and created a ‘new’ card with it to send to them. It was fun to see if they recognized their card.

    Blessings for creative days,
    Marianne

  11. Pretty little kitten, and a lovely card. I too am a keeper, but also went thru boxes of cards, mostly now donated to repurpose, kept the family ones and treasuring the ones who’s no longer here to send another. I liked a saying someone once said on American Pickers,
“it’s time to pass it on…someone can better put it to use and give it new life” it helps me donate a lot more. BUT I still have so much to go thru. Enjoy the week, time’s a ticking.

I think your obsession with hoarding is on a par with my own, only I do not have the courage to throw out all of the ‘stuff’ I do not use. Well done.
