Friendship Friday

Welcome to Friendship Friday!

Friendship Friday at Create With Joy is a week-long event where you can:

  • Share what’s unique about you and your blog!
  • Foster friendships with other bloggers!
  • Expand your social media networks!

You are welcome to share your favorite posts, past or present – but we’d love it if you participated in our Friendship Friday prompts by either writing a dedicated Friendship Friday post and/or sharing your responses in the comments!

We’d do the Happy Dance if you spread the word about Friendship Friday by adding our beautiful blog button to your posts/blog and spread the word on your social media sites so that others can join the fun!

And a blog or social media follow on BlogLovin, Facebook, Google Plus, Twitter or Pinterest might make us swoon!

According to the Pew Internet Research Project, as of January 1, 2014:

  • 90% of American adults have a cell phone
  • 58% of American adults have a smart phone
  • 32% of American adults own an e-reader
  • 42% of American adults own a tablet computer

Which of these devices do you own?

My family currently has basic cell phones (think flip phones!) but are considering making some upgrades in the near future and would love to hear your thoughts on this subjects!

If you own a smart phone – an e-reader – and/or a tablet computer – please share which ones and what you like/dislike about them! Would you recommend the purchase? Why or why not? If you were making the purchase today – what would you buy or avoid?

And – after using these devices – do you think they have truly improved the quality of your life?

Please share your thoughts in the comments. Inquiring minds truly want to know!

Song Of The Week – Words

Have Fun!

Have fun connecting with one another – building friendships is what this community is all about!

For more opportunities to create and connect, join us for Inspire Me Monday and Wordless Wednesday!

My kids have said that I will need to pay someone to steal my phone. It’s a very basic phone. It cannot send or receive images, so it doesn’t take pictures, and it doesn’t connect to the internet. I think a phone that takes quality pictures is a great idea, because I’m taking pictures all the time. It would be especially useful for bloggers who write about their day-to-day happenings. Thanks for hosting! P.S. Thanks for your email. I tried to reply, but my internet crashed and my written reply was lost. Prayers for you and your family are headed your way! 🙂

Christina – you and I must have the same type of phone! 🙂 My phone does pretty much nothing except make phone calls. In the past that was fine for me as I only really wanted one for emergencies – but, over time, life changes and one’s needs change – so we are considering new options.

Glad you got my email. Wanted to let you know what was going on. Have a great weekend and thanks for your feedback! 🙂

I guess I’m old-fashioned but I have a regular cell phone, not a smart phone. My husband has a smart phone and I find it way too addicting, so I don’t want one. And I don’t really want an e-reader or tablet or even laptop… I’m happy with my regular paper books and laptop computer!

    Thanks for hosting! 🙂

Thanks Camille for sharing your thoughts with us! I also prefer reading traditional print books to e-books but know lots of people are hooked on e-books!

What type of smart phone does your husband have?

I do have a smart phone, but only in the last year or so….but I don’t own any of the others, not even a laptop. I was surprised to see only 58% own smart phones, I thought it would have been higher. I have an android, and have been happy with it, but both my husband and son now have an iphone, not sure I want to go to the dark side, haha! I do love my phone for the camera (I love instagram) alone though!

Kim I’d love to hear more about your Android experience as hubby and I are both leaning in that direction (though we are eyeing different phones!)
Camera functionality and Instagram accessibility are two major reasons I am considering this as I look forward into the blogging and social media future!

Thanks so much for your feedback – glad to have you at this week’s party!

Thanks for hosting! I still have a regular phone, since I stay home all day, I don’t want to spend the money for the data pkg, but I understand the people that have them. My husband has the iPhone and really likes it. I use iPads with preschoolers during the day, and we love them. BTW, we purchased a cheaper tablet, & returned it, most are junk, and we love the iPad. But, there might be some that are ok now. But when we bout a second tablet, I didn’t look at anything but the iPad, and bought the mini, which they love. I don’t have an e-reader, but you can download that on the iPad if you want it, and I like my paperbacks, anyway!

Thanks for your feedback on the iPad Debbie! I think that would be a really cool thing to own (although I’ve never been hands-on with any of them) but have heard mixed messages – people seem to love them or not!

Currently I am glued to my desktop! While I like the ergonomics of it all, there are times that the portability factor would be SO nice!

  10. Hello! Thank you for hosting this cool Blog Hop! I own a smart phone (iPhone) and an iPad. I’m a writer so I use my tablet mostly for research. I sometimes keep 5 or 6 tabs open while I write. I use the recorder and notes apps on my smartphone constantly. I also reply to comments on my blog, FB, and Google+ and check my emails on it when I’m out. 😉

I didn’t know that smart phones had recorders – I will have to check that feature out!

Thanks so much for hosting this fun get together! We have all of those devices, but a lot of that has to do with our work. They can all be helpful, but it’s really nice to shut them off sometimes! 🙂

Thanks for sharing. Did you see that we’re hosting a cat litter giveaway this week?

I have a smartphone and an iPad. Both have their own advantages but if I have to pick one of them for reading books purposes then iPad will win..:)

  13. Thank you for hosting! My boyfriend bought me an iPhone a couple years ago and I hated it for the first three days. Now I absolutely couldn’t live without it. It’s been beneficial in every area of my life. He also bought me an iPad, which I said I didn’t need, and I really don’t. But it is nice. My iPhone and I are together until death do us part.

I invite you and your followers to join my link-a-long at the Go Crochet Crazy blog and share all things homemade or handmade!

I need to admit – I use my iPhone for the most for the Photo a Day-project … taking snapshots along the way! It’s also nice to be able to check the due date for taking books to the library from the phone, and also see the timetables for the trains & busses 🙂
