Here’s What’s Inspiring Me…

Devotional Of The Week – An Oasis In The Desert

Wilderness Quote

How many of you have ever had a “wilderness experience”
In the midst of a once thriving faith-filled life?

This week, Romi at In The Way Everlasting wrote about
Some of the lessons she learned from an inspiring sermon
Her pastor shared from Exodus 13:17-22 and his life.

If you are roaming in the wilderness,
Give Romi’s devotional a read!

Music Moves Me – Songs About The Weather

This week, the theme at Music Moves Me is
Songs About The Weather – or Songs With Weather In The Title!

Weather Quote

I was amazed –
When I started thinking about this theme –
To see how many songs in this category have
Touched my life over the years!
I’ve actually shared a few –
Like Here Comes The Sun
In previous Inspire Me Monday posts!

This week, I’d like to share three weather-related songs
That have touched my life over the years.

If you have a song in your heart –
Why not share a song of your own?

For inspiration pertaining to this week’s theme,
Check out this list of
Songs With Weather-Related Conditions In The Title!

Joy Is Like The Rain

As a young girl, I went to parochial school,
Where we learned lots of songs.
One of my favorites was a song called Joy Is Like The Rain.
How many of you know this song?
This treasure of a video contains the story behind the song –
By the songwriter herself –
As well as a performance of the song.

Mandolin Rain

In 1986, Bruce Hornsby released an amazing song
Called Mandolin Rain that I had intended to share with you.
But – while searching through the videos –
I came across a new-to-me rendition by
Country singer Pam Tillis that I found equally compelling –
So I am sharing her version instead!

Thunder Road

In 1974, a music critic named Jon Landau
Saw a performance by an up and coming performer –
Bruce Springsteen and the E-Street Band –
In Harvard Square Theater in Cambridge, Mass.
He was so moved by that performance,
He made a prophetic statement:

I have seen rock and roll future, and its name is Bruce Springsteen.

In 1975, Bruce released his third album –
Born To Run – which is considered one of the
Best rock albums ever written and is one of my personal favorites.
Every song contains lyrical poetry and musical magic!

On an album filled with moment after moment of musical greatness –
In a career filled with moment after moment of musical highlights –
Thunder Road remains one of my
All-time favorite Bruce Springsteen songs.
Enjoy!
