Simple Faith by Anna Schmidt

Simple Faith

Simple Faith – Book Review

If you are an avid reader of inspirational historical romance, chances are good that you’re already familiar with the works of novelist Anna Schmidt. But – if you’re new to this writer like I am, take note – once you get a taste of Anna’s writing, chances are good that you’ll be back for more!

Simple Faith is the second book in Anna Schmidt’s The Peacemakers Series – a series that tells the brave stories of the men and women who fought against the evil that Hitler perpetuated during World War II. It is also the exciting continuation of the story of Quaker widow Anja Steinberg, whose backstory is told in the first book in the series, All God’s Children!

In All God’s Children, Anja becomes widowed when she loses her beloved Jewish husband and daughter in Hitler’s Sobibor death camp and barely escapes with her own life and her son.

Simple Faith picks up Anja’s story. In this book, we learn that Anja has now dedicated her life to helping others and keeping her son safe.

As a member of the resistance movement, Anja spends her days helping displaced Allied airmen getting back to their units in England.

The journey is fraught with danger. There is no time for romance – even though men like fellow resistance worker Mikel would be interest in pursuing that path and would make a good husband, father, and companion.

Anja has shut the door to that part of her life forever… or so Anja thought.

But what happens when Peter Trent – an American pilot who is shot down from his plane – parachutes into her life? How will Ana handle the growing possibility that she could be developing feelings for another man? And what will happen when the choices required to ensure Peter’s safety require decisions that may compromise the callings and stirrings within her heart?

Simple Faith is a well-written, well-researched, and well-crafted novel that lovers of this genre will enjoy. After reading this book, chances are good that you will want to go back to read All God’s Children – and that you’ll be eagerly anticipating Safe Haven, Book Three in The Peacemakers series!

I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars.

About The Author – Anna Schmidt

Anna Schmidt

Anna Schmidt is a three-time finalist for the coveted RITA award presented annually by Romance Writers of America. Her novel A Sister’s Forgiveness gives Anna her fourth finalist honor for the Reviewers’ Choice Awards from Romantic Times magazine. She has won that award twice before.

Anna is the author of over twenty-five works of historical and contemporary fiction including her most recent series – The Peacemakers – set in World War II. All God’s Children was released last fall and tells the story of Beth – an American Quaker trapped in Nazi Germany where she finds herself fall in love with Josef – a young German medical student who is determined to save his beloved homeland from Hitler’s oppressive regime.

Publisher’s Weekly had high praise for the novel:

The activities of the White Rose resistance group, as well as the prisoner uprising at the Sobibor concentration camp, are more than simple historical context. Schmidt seamlessly integrates these actual events, and the courageous real-life individuals who fought against Hitler’s regime, with her fictional characters and their story, to produce a strong tale of hope and love in the face of insurmountable obstacles.

Anna’s current release is the inspirational historical romance, Simple Faith.

Please let me know if that is OK so as not to violate any of your contractual obligations with the publisher or author. Looking forward to connecting with you more often in the coming days and weeks!
