I Appreciate You Card

Happy WOYWW to you dear friends! We are still in the midst of our heatwave. It’s 105 degrees as I write this and we’ve been under a Heat Advisory for several days. As I melt I am dreaming of the cooler days of Fall…

What Did I Create This Week?

Autumn was on my mind as I designed today’s card.

It’s present in the colors – the harvest-inspired greens, yellows and oranges that rarely made it out of my Crayola box as a child, and rarely make it out of my scrap box as an adult.

It’s present in the theme – one of thanks for the special people in our lives that we truly appreciate, but don’t always share how much they mean to us as often or as profusely as we should.

Why not join me this week in sending off a special note of gratitude to someone who deserves it and could really use a word of encouragement from us right now?

What Are The Crafty Cats Up To?

I believe the heat is making us all a little edgy as of late.

For instance, my precious Magellan has been particularly precocious this week.

Thanks to him, I spent my Saturday morning crawling around the floor, trying to singlehandedly stretch into tight corners and figure out how to install new hardware as El Destructo and his Jaws of Steel chomped through the cord of my second keyboard and rendered it DOA!

Now – to my chagrin – he is doing his best to chomp his way through keyboard 3!

If you’d like to read more about his antics – and view the photographic evidence for yourself – His Naughtiness awaits you at my Wordless Wednesday Party.

While you’re there, check out the very funny Wild Cat video that’s sure to make you me smile!

  10. 105 degrees? Wowwee. I think our high today is high 70s. We get about 3-4 weeks total of really beautiful weather here (well, the weather I enjoy) and now happens to be it… I need to get off my computer and get outside.

It is funny, most of my creative projects are online via images or videos. I just realized that. To look at my desk you would not think I’m creative – you would need to open the laptop to see it. You know we still have your lovely card here, that we treasure. You are a sweet soul. We are all blessed to know you – even if, like me, it is only online.

    Have a happy day!

  11. Great card for my Autumn challenge at LunagirlMoonbeams.com! That orange flower is GORGEOUS, such a beautiful color, and I like how the flower plus the orange “thanks” above it are shaped like a medal or award? Don’t know if that was on purpose or just me, but it looks great!

Such a naught cat, I would of had a heart attack if that was my cat. I suppose it makes it worse because I am an electrical technician and think of the danger of eating cables. Maybe Magellan likes the buzz.

  37. Patti says:

I love the card. Beautiful. Unlike you, the greens and browns were often used up when I was a child. I was into drawing landscapes. It’s funny how different children draw different things. I do confess that I had a brief love affair with magenta during 4th grade.

As for Magellan eating your keyboard cords, here’s a website with several suggestions you might try.

Our cats, fortunately, outgrew the need to chew on cords. Their favorites were always headphones, and speaker wires. Oh, and there was one phone cord charger that fell prey to their razor sharp teeth.

Thank you so much for sharing that wonderful article Patti! Tsunami gnawed on cords when he was a kitten but thankfully outgrew that habit. Magellan is now a year old and still getting into kitten mischief, even though I am constantly playing with him and redirecting his attention. The other day, he almost destroyed several large platters (stored high on a shelf) while trying to catch a small bug he spotted on the ceiling…

(Note To Magellan: You CANNOT fly!)

  38. I see you are a cat lover also. Mine are into everything also but so loveable. Not so hot here temps have been in the 70’s really nice here hope it cools now for you. This is my favorite time of year the beautiful changes of colors. Love your project. Thank so much for joining us at Thought the Craft room Door challenge.
    Fabulous ideas and great inspiration.

I love Autumn too and today, we are finally experiencing more temperate weather! Of course, with a 35 degree plummet overnight – I now have a sore throat! I’d rather have it cool than in triple digits though. Have a wonderful fall!

  39. You’re so right: greens, yellows, and oranges weren’t my favorite colors either. lol. Sending a note of gratitude is an awesome idea. Thanks for the inspiration. 🙂
