Breathing Room

Breathing Room – Book Review

Have you ever felt that life was suffocating – that you were drowning in a sea of overwhelm – even when times are good?

Do you often feel like there’s a huge gap between what you feel inside and what you express externally? That somehow, it’s not okay to fully express or embrace your feelings?

Do you sometimes feel that there’s a pressure valve inside of you building up, waiting for release – waiting to explode?

If so, you’re not alone.

Breathing Room - Exhale

In her new book, Breathing Room – Letting Go So You Can Fully Live, Leanna Tankersley eloquently expresses the things that most of us have experienced at some point in our lives but have often felt at a loss to put into words.

She lets us know that the things we that we silently struggle with are part of the human experience.

She lets us know that there are often no easy answers to life’s challenges.

She helps us to embrace the dichotomies that often exist within our lives.

Take, for instance, the state of being blessed and struggling.

Leanna says:

Struggle and gratitude are not two ends of a dichotomy.
In God’s world, they can simultaneously exist.

Breathing Room - Continue

The important thing isn’t that we lead perfect lives.

The important thing is that we get up each day and continue to press forward in the lives God has given us.

Leanna gleans her wisdom from her experiences as a Navy Seal wife and mother – as a woman who was forced to adjust to upheaval as she and her three young children moved to Bahrain.

She shares insights from a wide range of resources including Scripture and 12-step programs, influential authors and historical and modern-day thought leaders.

She writes for the person who is “navigating that soul tightness – who is wanting to lean into it – no matter how it has arrived”.

If you enjoy authors like Ann Voskamp, Bonnie Gray, and Emily T. Wierenga who combine personal experiences with spiritual and philosophical insights, you’ll enjoy Breathing Room by Leeana Tankersley!

I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars.

I like Ann Voskamp and read Bonnie Gray’s book, but there’s only so much of that kind of writing I can read in year. This one will have to go onto my list for later. Thanks so much for the review.
