Consolamentum by Rebecca Hazell – Review & Giveaway

Consulamentum – Book Review

Many of us have a tendency to romanticize the past, but the truth is – the past isn’t pretty.

In fact, when it comes right down to it, much of history is gritty and brutal – especially when shared from the female perspective.

If you enjoy epic stories – books that are rich in detail, filled with memorable characters, and not shy about recapturing the realities about days gone by – then Consolamentum, the third and final book in Rebecca Hazell’s sweeping historical series, The Tiger And The Dove, will be right up your alley!

Of course, if you have not read the previous two books in the series, The Grip Of God and Solomon’s Bride, this is one series where you really need to start at the beginning!

One of the things that I like about Consolamentum is that it brings the story full circle. When the series opens, Sofia – the main character and heroine throughout the books – is writing a letter to her beloved daughter – and we learn that each book in the series is actually a journal that chronicles the amazing life she has led.

In Consolamentum, we actually meet the daughter Sofia has written that letter to, and learn more about the pivotal events that shape both their lives.

As the book opens, Sofia’s world is once again in upheaval as she must deal with the shock of an unexpected pregnancy and the betrayal of her family.

Circumstances lead her to seek safe haven herself and her child, and as she travels from Antioch to Constantinople and Venice to France, she finds herself on the wrong side of the newly established Holy Inquisition.

Once again, Rebecca skillfully weaves a historic tale filled with drama, suspense, and intrigue.

If you’ve read the first two books in the series, you won’t want to miss Consolamentum! The novel is available in both paperback and Kindle versions and through your local bookstore by special order.

I haven’t read any of the books but the idea of a new mother having to escape her evil family sounds interesting- and then to place it in the time of the Holy Inquisition… certainly sounds suspenseful to say the least.

  2. Mary Preston says:

The books sound wonderful. I have not caught up with these yet.
