If the terms “exciting drama” and “enthralling adventure” aren’t the first things that pop in your head, perhaps you should read Keepers Of The Covenant by Lynn Austin!

Keepers Of The Covenant is the second book in Lynn’s fictional biblical series, The Restoration Chronicles – a thrilling series that reveals what happens to the Jewish people when they return to Jerusalem after years of captivity in Babylon.

It’s a wonderful follow-up to the first book in the series, Return To Me. Even if you find the Old Testament difficult to read, you’ll find yourself immersed in this story and the lives of each of the characters from the start!

Keepers Of The Covenant tells the story of Ezra – a quiet, Jewish scholar and teacher who is thrust into the spotlight as a community and military leader when the king decrees that his people – the Jewish exiles in Babylon – are to be annihilated on the 13^th day of Adar, in less than one year.

As it turns out, the military fight to save his people marks the beginning of the battles Ezra must fight. As the story continues, Ezra diligently tries to follow God’s law. As a result, Ezra leads his people out of Babylon and back to Jerusalem to revitalize worship at the temple. There, he finds himself engaged in a spiritual battle for the souls of God’s people as he fights to ensure the survival of God’s covenant.

Lynn is a gifted writer who is able to bring the stories of the Old Testament to life, making them real, relevant, and even relatable to the things that we are experiencing in our current culture. She is a master of her craft and of the biblical fiction genre. For these reasons, I highly recommend both Keepers Of The Covenant and The Restoration Chronicles series to you!
