Photo Of The Week –Tsunami & Magellan
Homecoming

Have you ever heard a song whose lyrics
Brought forth a deep well of emotions
You didn’t know existed within you?

Have you ever fallen in love with a photo
Because of the way it made you feel?

A few days ago, I heard Jason Mraz’s moving song,
93 Million Miles and –
In the aftermath of my mom’s passing,
It’s touched me so profoundly,
I’ve had to pause to process the emotions it stirred.

Finding today’s photo helped me to uncover a piece of the puzzle.

The complete sense of love, safety and trust
That my cats are sharing in this photo is that
Same rare bond that my mother and I shared –
And the invitation to come home was always present.

In loss, we feel 193 million miles away from the ones I love…

But when I look at my cats,
I am reminded that home is inside of me…
My cats help me find my way back home.

When you feel lost,
How do your pets help you find your way back home?

I wish I had videos of them together but I don’t. I tried capturing Magellan on video when he first arrived but we don’t have a lot of natural light streaming in due to the exposure of our house so they turned out dark – just didn’t work out. Now, the few captures I’ve gotten are of Magellan – usually when he’s been up to no good! Would love to share once I figure out how to get past a few technical glitches I’m having!

  13. Such a dreamy photo of your two gorgeous fur balls. 🙂

  14. I hope your pain is lifted a bit and I know what you mean about cats and their intimacy it’s just precious! Thanks for linky

I can only imagine the loss you’ve been dealt, but I’m glad you have your cats to help see you through. The way you spoke about your cats is how I feel about my furkids as well (1 dog, 1 cat, 2 spoiled rotten babies, lol). Brightest blessings to you and thank you for the inspiration! ~xx

  18. Mary Denman says:

    Oh Ramona,

I totally feel your pain. But as time has marched on, even though I miss my mom so much, I realize that she is always with me. Always in my heart.

Yes, I always felt the call to go home. I’m beyond grateful that my dad is still here. He’ll be 90 Nov. 1! And I miss my father-in-law and is thankful spirit.

But they stay with us. You will get through this. You won’t get “over” the loss. You will learn how to live with it. Your mom did it. My mom did too. Ramona, you and I will both make it with God’s strength.

I just followed you on Instagram! 🙂

My kitties are just the sweetest things. Lady is so intent on looking me in the eyes. She even gets in my face and touches my nose with hers. It is healing indeed!

    Praying for you!

  26. Thank you for hosting! There are truly no words for when you lose someone in your life. {{Hugs}} We have our good days and then days where the loss can be overwhelming. It is nice to have cats or others (human or animal) that rely on us to give us the love we need and to know they need us to take care of them. The photo is adorable.
    Blessings to you all!

  27. So sorry for your loss. My dad died less than a month ago, and I’m still reeling. My cats–and dogs–provide love and comfort, and someone to hug.

  32. Hope you’re having a great Wednesday. That is a great photo. Sorry to hear of your loss, but glad you can find those happy moments. Cat’s are good for helping with that! They provided me with much comic relief after I lost someone close to me. Story here if you’re interested: http://www.rascalandrocco.com/2013/02/its-been-rough-couple-of-weeks-and-i.html

You are so right about our pets. I have a black lab and I had one before her, but although they look the same they have their own personalities. When I feel alone I go and lay down beside Baby (her name) & I pet her and look in her eyes and I wonder does she really feel the love? I think she does, and when she wants love she comes in my room and flips my hand, and it always makes me smile. I’m never alone in the house as long as Baby is around “I’m not alone”! She’s a part of our family and I love it so I do know how you feel about your kitties. I use to have kitties, but my hubby is a dog lover, as I am both. 🙂
