Lost And Found by Sarah Jakes

Lost and Found Sarah Jakes

Lost and Found – Book Review

Everyone in life makes unwise decisions from time to time. Most of us, however, are blessed by the ability to recover from our mistakes in relative anonymity. We learn from the past and we move on.

When you are unexpectedly thrust into the public eye at an early age, however, all eyes are upon you. When you stumble, there is nowhere to hide. Other people cast their expectations you and the pressure and burdens of life are magnified.

Lost and Found – Finding Hope In The Detours Of Life is the story of Sarah Jakes – the daughter of Bishop T.D. Jakes – and her story reminds us that God has a plan for our lives – even when our lives stray from His perfect plan.

Sarah’s story begins before her family was catapulted into the national spotlight, before they moved to Texas and her father transformed The Potter’s House into one of the largest churches in America – back in the days when they lived an ordinary life in West Virginia.

The book takes us through the move and the difficulties Sarah faced as she dealt with transition. As you read her story, you’ll learn that at age 13, Sarah becomes pregnant – a situation that is difficult for any family to deal with, but particularly challenging for a pastor and a church. Sarah also shares the story about how, years later, she falls in love, only to find out that marriage isn’t the fairy tale she hoped it would be.

Sometimes we have an expectation of how people’s lives should be, based on who they are and what their station is in life. Lost And Found shatters that myth.

Sarah reminds us that underneath it all, we all struggle with the same insecurities, the same vulnerabilities, the same temptations – and she provides hope for those who have taken their own detours in life.

I rate this book 3 out of 5 stars.
