Quilted By Christmas

Quilted By Christmas by Jodie Bailey – Book Review

Each month, I look forward to reading the latest books in The Quilts Of Love series from Abingdon Press – a standalone series of contemporary and historical that introduces us to some of the most talented writers in their respective genres.

This month’s featured selection – Quilted By Christmas – introduces us to author Jodie Bailey, who weaves one of the most endearing stories in the series that I have read to date.

Quilted By Christmas tells the story of Taryn McKenna – a young woman who has spent a lifetime struggling with feelings of abandonment and rejection.

To fill the void, she builds a wall around her heart and focuses on external pursuits, such as academic achievements and her career as a teacher. Taryn is determined to impact the lives of the middle school children she teaches in the hills of North Carolina.

But, when Justin, the man who broke her heart unexpectedly returns to town when his army tour ends, Taryn is forced to confront her past and her unresolved feelings for her high school sweetheart.

Life is further complicated for Taryn when her beloved grandmother, Jemma, has a heart attack and the tightly woven life that Taryn has created for herself completely unravels.

Each story in the Quilts Of Love series is tied together by a quilt that is integral to the storyline and in Quilted By Christmas, Jemma finds herself racing against the clock to communicate a special message of love to her granddaughter through a special quilt they are creating together.

Quilted By Christmas is a beautiful story filled with all of the complexities of real life situations and characters that you’ll care deeply about by the end of the book.

This wonderful story of healing, forgiveness and romance is the perfect book to read this holiday season – and a wonderful introduction to the Quilts Of Love series!

I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars.

You will be drawn into the endearing characters of this series and be touched by their stories.

This is one of my favorite books in the series, and outside of it as well! I saw that Jodie has written a couple of suspense stories for the Love Inspired line, but I don’t care much for suspense and hope she write more stories like this, set in the mountains of NC.
