The Brothers’ Keepers – Book Review
I love books with depth.
I enjoy stories that catch your interest right from the start because they draw you into the action with their suspenseful plot.
I like meeting interesting, well-developed characters that reveal themselves to you as the story develops.
I like placing myself in plots that engage your mind and make you wonder how you would react if you were in a similar situation as the ones the protagonists’ face.
I enjoy books that mix matters of faith with historical artifacts, modern day spies and international intrigue.
If you like these things too, then you will want to add The Brothers’ Keepers by NLB Horton to your reading list!
The Brothers’ Keepers is about the Madison family and the choices they make in challenging and unusual circumstances. The story opens when archeologist Grace Madison – who is currently in Brussels cataloging looted antiquities – discovers that her daughter, Maggie, has vanished in France and her daughter-in-law, Becca, has been attacked while in Switzerland
Family and friends convene from around the globe to search for Maggie, but when the Madison’s unearth a relic whose taproot pierces the Ancient Near East, they realize they must rescue an old friend before they can save themselves – if he’ll let them.
As they sacrifice hearts and lives in a race against eternity on a four-thousand-year-old trail spanning three continents, you’ll find yourself deeply immersed in the Madison family’s adventure.
The Brothers’ Keepers is Book 2 in the Parched Series. You can read this book on its own, but if suspense and thrillers are your genre, I’d start at the beginning with When Camels Fly so you’ll be ready for Book 3 when it releases in Fall 2015.
The Brothers’ Keeper is my first introduction to NLB Horton. I look forward to reading more of her novels in the future!
I rate this book 4 out of 5 stars.
NLB Horton
NLB Horton has led an exciting life – and it shows in her books!
NLB is an award-winning journalist with a background in marketing who holds a graduate degree from Dallas Theological Seminary.
In her travels, NLB has surveyed Israeli and Jordanian archaeological digs accompanied (twice!) by heavy artillery rounds from Syria and machine gun fire from Lebanon – calmly tossed a tarantula from her skiff into the Amazon after training with an Incan shaman – driven uneventfully through Rome – and consumed gallons of afternoon tea across five continents.
Now, NLB has returned to fiction writing. Her first novel, When Camels Fly, was released in May, 2014. Her second novel in the Parched series, The Brothers’ Keepers, was released on November 17, 2014. The Third book in the series will release in the Fall 2015.
