A Stitch In Crime – Book Review
If you are looking for a cozy mystery involving heritage quilts, stolen diamonds and missing people, may I introduce you to A Stitch In Crime by Cathy Elliott – the latest book in the popular Abingdon Press Quilts Of Love Series?
A Stitch In Crime introduces us to Thea James – an antique business owner who also serves as the newly appointed co-chairperson of Larkindale’s first quilt show extravaganza.
Normally, this would be an exciting event to head up. But, as luck would have it – everything that could go wrong has gone wrong, and poor Thea soon finds herself in over her head!
First, Thea’s friend dear Mary-Alice Wentworth, the much-loved town matriarch and respected quilt judge, is covertly conked on the head during the kick-off Quilt Show Soiree, throwing suspicion on her guests.
Then, it’s discovered that a valuable diamond brooch was been stolen during the attack. The family is furious. But, one might wonder, are they mad because their mother’s been mugged, or because the diamonds are missing?
As if that wasn’t enough, a renowned textile expert goes missing and the famous Wentworth heritage quilt disappears, Now, Larkindale’s reputation as a tourist haven is at risk.
Threats abound. Danger is everywhere. Yet, Thea must try to solve the mystery together and save the town’s investment in the quilt show before Mary-Alice is attacked again . . . with far worse results.
Will she succeed?
A Stitch In Crime is an easy-to-read story that weaves themes of faith, forgiveness and moments of humor into a family-centric whodunit. If you are looking for an entertaining book that will allow you a few hours of pleasant escapism playing amateur detective in a cozy setting, then give this book a read!
I rate this book 4 out of 5 stars.
