Hi, this sounds like an inspiring book for tweens and teens. Thanks for sharing on Literacy Musing Mondays. I love the giveawy too. 😉

PS: My question for Tamara: What would be your number one recommendation when raising a tween to follow her dreams? My daughter is really smart and beautiful, but trying to get her to participate in anything that will help her college dreams can be hard. I am trying to encourage her to participate in essay contests but she fights me. She wants to be a scientist of some kind. I tell her that she will need to go to college and that she will need scholarship funds. Thanks for your advice in advance.

    • Great question Mary – I look forward to reading Tamara’s response on this!

    • Hi MaryHill16,
So sorry for late response. Just saw your question. It sometimes really hard to hear everything you have to do from your parent. First things first-ask her what she really wants. It’s important for her to be clear so she can create a path to that vision. Questions are powerful. Ask her “What do you think you need to do to get from where you are to where you want to be?” Also ask her, “What kind of scientist do you want to be? What would give you experience doing what you love to do? Asking empowering questions will lead her towards discovering her goals. It’s important for teen girls to understand that their behavior, actions and attitude must be in line with the end result/the dream outcome. That’s how you get from point A to B. Sometimes just encouraging teens to focus on what they love will work-without pushing the college end goal so hard. Questions open the door to discussion and ‘telling’ boxes kids in a corner. Finding a mentor may be helpful as well. Someone whose been there done can offer suggestions and advice and that can have a tremendous impact. Of course you want her to be get involved and be proactive. Her clarity, will lead to feeling ‘on purpose.’ and that’s when she will truly tap into inspiration. Once she really gets inspired, the sky’s the limit.

  3. having 4 daughters this sounds like the perfect book to have in our household. thanks for sharing with #readwithme x

    • House full of ITGirls:-) This book is really about creating the mindset to empower yourself in all areas of your life. Filled with foundational principles that are great to help you navigate the teen years but also that you take with you and expand upon as you get older.

      XO Tamara
