Our goal is to establish a family-friendly community where bibliophiles from all backgrounds – readers, bloggers, reviewers, writers, authors, teachers, librarians, parents, homeschoolers, publicists and publishers – can share what’s new in the world of books, blogging, and publishing!
At each gathering, we’ll share book-related news and fill you in on what’s happening around the blogosphere. We’ll also provide a link where you can share your book-related and literacy-related posts as well!

Chat In The Comments: Do You Read With The Seasons?
Welcome to our 6th gathering of The Book Nook at Create With Joy! I’m thrilled to welcome those of you who are just discovering our community as well as those who have been with us from the start!
This week, I’m wondering – do you notice a change in your reading preferences as you move from one season to another?
During the Fall and Winter months, I notice I tend to get very introspective, and my mood often spills over into the books I am drawn to. My reading tends to be heavier, weightier, more serious – this season in particular, I found myself drawn to writers of the past and heavier, more theological works.
Now that Spring has sprung, however, I’m ready to lighten things up a bit! I’m ready to delve into all of those great novels that have been stacking up in my TBR pile – lose myself in centuries past – solve some baffling mysteries – read some great children’s books – and focus on all things pet, health and cooking related!

Creative Challenge – Book Haiku!
For Book Nook 6, I’d like to invite you to participate in a Creative Challenge. Gather your favorite books and use the titles to create Book Haiku!
For this challenge, you can use as many books as you like to create your poem – the only rule is that it must contain a total of 17 syllables when read aloud.
When you’ve written your poems, snap a photo of your books and share it with us by posting it on your blog, linking up, and leaving a comment.
You’re also welcome to share your Book Haiku photos with me on Twitter and Instagram!

I think I read based on what my current mood or interests dictate rather than being influenced much by the seasons. Of course, I live in Florida! Thanks for hosting & God bless!

Of course, when you live someplace less prone to seasonal fluctuations it may make less of a difference! 🙂
I don’t think my reading changes by season, but maybe more by what else is going on and my general mood.

I don’t think my reading depends much on the seasons, more on what is being published since I review for different publishers.
I can’t find the ‘like’ button on your Amazon reviews, and I do like some of them. Do you know what is going on there?

Yes, if you read solely for review your reading choices are more limited, but depending on who you review for, it’s still possible to find a wide variety of books (and to complement those selections by entering other blogger’s giveaways!)
I’m so glad you like my reviews! Here’s the info for everyone in case others have the same question:
There isn’t a true “Like” button on Amazon.
When you click on my profile, you’ll see a page with my reviews and excerpts.
Pick the review you want and click Read More to see the full review.
When the full review pulls up, click on the Comment button.
When that opens up, there will be a question that asks, Was This Review Helpful To You?
Clicking YES is equivalent to Liking the review!

And, no, I do not read solely for review…but I end up reviewing most of the things I read, if only for myself. I suppose I’m a compulsive reviewer. LOL
That being said, there are always so many good new review books offered that I tend to read mostly those.
Oh I love the book haiku idea! I’ll have to take a look at my shelves and see what I can come up with lol.

I like to choose reading to match according to the month or season I’m currently living. Seems a fun connxn for me and maybe a bit of challenge to find the books [other than Christmas, Easter] I suppose 🙂
But reading for review adds another layer to my reading choices which will slow down for summer and some self care!

Well, this is my first Book Nook with you, and I’m excited I found you! The books I read can sometimes be of a more difficult subject matter, so I won’t always be able to link up (for instance, Our Endless Numbered Days is my most recent review, and while it was intense and a good read, it’s not appropriate for younger readers). But I’ll try!

Well, I finally launched a book and entertainment blog, and I’m thrilled!! Still have work to do to get it running smoothly, but it’s coming along.
