Welcome To Wordless Wednesday At Create With Joy!
Quote Of The Week
Even if you have just destroyed a Ming Vase, purr.
Usually all will be forgiven.
Lenny Rubenstein
Accidents Happen
This week, while Mom and Dad were out of the house,
The unthinkable happened –
I was tearing through the house in my indomitable way
And – before I knew it –
Another household possession lay in my wake!
This time it was a gorgeous Asian plate
That was part of a set that Mom had given Dad long ago.
I did not know what to do.
I felt really terrible about what happened.
I did not mean to break the plate.
I thought, perhaps, that if I made myself scarce that evening
Perhaps they wouldn’t notice but you know how Moms are.
The moment she sat down to watch TV –
Even though the room was dark –
The first thing she did was notice the empty space.
She asked Dad, “Did you move the plate?”
Of course, he said no, which launched a household investigation.
Eventually, they found the missing plate and all its shards behind the speaker.
I confess – it was not a pretty sight.
l
Mom and Dad were really cool about the whole thing though.
They did not get mad (although I did hear a few loud sighs!)
So, I thought that if I began to perch in the place
Where the plate one stood,
And put on my scowliest face to let them know how badly I felt,
Perhaps I could make them eventually forget about the broken vase…
Of course, hanging out in this new hot spot has its perks!
It makes such a good spot to spy on Tsunami,
The ground-dweller…
And it’s the best TV-viewing spot in the house!
Hmmm…
I would not call myself an opportunist…
But is this why my parents say I am indomitable?

The #ShelterPetLove Project
Did you know that each year, approximately 3-4 million pets are adopted from shelter and rescue groups, but 2.4 million healthy and treatable pets still need our help finding a home?
I recently heard about the Shelter Pet Project – a group that showcases the unique bonds between shelter pets and their adoptive owners, and reminds people that there are thousands of amazing shelter pets ready to meet them.
One of their goals is to break down the misconceptions that often surround shelter pets and spreading the word that pets in shelters are wonderful and loveable.
June is Adopt A Cat Month. I invite you to watch this week’s special video and – if you are one of my readers who are considering adding a pet to your home – won’t you consider visiting your local shelter and adopting a pet?
Bridges Of Paris – Photography Book Giveaway
I recently reviewed Bridges Of Paris – a stunning book containing over 350 color photographs of the Bridges along the Seine River – taken by American photographer Michael Saint James.
Because of your interest in photography, I wanted to invite you to enter the Worldwide Giveaway for a chance to Win 1 of 15 Books but hurry – the giveaway ends in just a few days!
Click on the book for details.

LOL.. that is a nice story, funny how they try to be sneaky… But yes, we all end up forgiving them. We would not be real loving Mom or Dad if we did not forgive and let go, at the end of the day we love them regardless of what went on.
Take Care, and have a wonderful rest of the week!
Pets have issues sometimes but they are still wonderful. Thank you for your great post and giveaway.

I know accidents happen by in our house I don’t think mum and dad would be so cool about the broken plate. Happy WW 🙂

Oh, boy! You sound very remorseful but accidents happen. Glad mom and dad weren’t too upset.
Oh dear. I am very clumsy so I can sympathise with him. Thanks for hosting. x

He looks so cute sitting there like the king of the castle LOL
Have a tanfastic week 🙂
How can you stay mad at this cuteness!
As you said, accidents happen. He’ll probably be a bit more careful from now on.
We have 4 and they all act differently or shall I say indifferently? One acts indignant, one runs and hides, one acts cute and the other acts guilty.

Ooohh, such a contrite face!! I can only imagine the thoughts that went through your head after “accidentally” losing a cherished item. But, it’s only a “thing”. People…… and kitties/pets are more important! Have a great week and tks for hosting.

Awww. Sweet story with pics. Sorry about the plate! 😉
Oh goodness me… I have chapters in books I have written dedicated to accidents alone (not that I’m naming names, ahem, Zee). Great post and so many kitties need a good home – sure do hope June creates lots of awareness. I did a post on Monday about the #FoodShelterLove Program for integrating cats and dogs with peace and harmony.

I will be sure to pop by and check it out!
I usually jump all over your posts but I’ve been under the weather all week so I am behind on my reading.
How could sweet Zee have been such a naughty boy?
He has that same sweet face and disposition that my Magellan does…
oh noes! My cat is a wee bit of a troublemaker too!!

I think Mom has a soft spot for us trouble-making cats…
Oh no! We are so sorry to hear about the plate, Magellan (and Mom and dad, too), but we are glad no one got hurt. Magellan, your parents reacted like ours do when we do naughty things (thankfully!).
Thank you for hosting the awesome blog hop, Ramona.
Hugs!

I’m so glad your parents are cool about such things too.
There are some things I still get scolded for, though.
I got in trouble today (again!) for gnawing on the phone charger.
I’m glad they love me LOTS!
You didn’t do it on purpose, and things are all replaceable !
Uh-oh! Well, so far, I haven’t broken anything… as a matter of fact, if there are breakable things around here, I can’t seem to find them!
Twitter: CreateWithJoy1
says:
You are so sweet and petite Summer – do you weigh enough to break anything?
Ruby definitely acts guilty and sad when she has done something wrong.
It seems that my cat can either not seem to care about any breakages, or she will hide away!
Thanks for hosting & wishing you a happy Wordless Wednesday 🙂
I will have to look into the Shelter Pet Project, it sounds like a wonderful movement. Thank you for the opportunity to win the “Bridges of Paris” photography book!

Very cool parents. My cat Nala and dogs have had similar accidents. Kilo trashes our white couch regularly. Just followed you on a few more things I had somehow missed. Happy WW

Awesome Susie – just connected with you on Instagram and will follow back as I sign in and find my pleasant surprises! 🙂
Oh no, Magellan! We know it was an accident! Several very expensive things have been broken through the years at our house. Mom used to get really upset, not so much with us but with herself for having something in a spot we could get to and wreak havoc. On occasion, we have broken things she didn’t think we could get to. She’s come to the conclusion that the things we destroy are just possessions, and even if she loved the item, she loves us more! Well put kitties! When Dad proudly displayed that plate on the speaker, Mom said that was not a good idea, but he did not listen. Guess Mom knows best.
Every time I do something naughty, Dad reminds her that I am her “Christmas gift”!

I’m so sorry to hear about the plate!
Accidents can happen! =)
Great hop, thanks for hosting!
I loved this story, so funny to see how pets act “guilty”. Kilo has no remorse however lol, I think he truly believes he can do no wrong.
Twitter: CreateWithJoy1
says:
That sounds about right! Kilo has one of those adorable faces as well!
Like you said, they feel as bad about it as they can… for a cat. When younger Charles was often naughty and Joe would scold him and often wag his finger at Charles during the scolding. Charles HATED it. So then Charles started standing up on his hind feet and wagging one of his paws and making all sorts of noises, like he was scolding Joe right back. He is very sensitive and will and go and hide for hours and slink around the house hoping for forgiveness so we don’t scold him unless it is extra naughty. He tends to punish himself more than we would of anyway.
Twitter: CreateWithJoy1
says:
Ah, how cute about the “scolding right back!” Yes, I’ve had cats with varying levels of sensitivity – some you could not look at sideways or they would get sick they were so sensitive – others you could scold for hours and you might as well be talking to the wall!
I also had a sneaky dog who used to chew things he shouldn’t right under my nose and try to cover it up with his paw – and other pets who looked so guilty it was almost comical!
The only time I really “lose it” is when they are about to do something that could result in them injuring themselves!
I’m sure you will be forgiven, Magellan! You are so cute! My kitties occasionally break things too, but I can never stay mad at them long. My husband breaks more things than the cats do. MOL

That’s funny Robin! I DO feel a little better now! 🙂
Oh no! With a beautiful, sweet face like yours I’m sure mama & dad have already forgiven you! My dogs usually are not brave enough to fess up; they look at us like “well, it wasn’t ME!” We love the Shelter Pet Project! Thanks for helping to support it.
Love & Biscuits,
Dogs Luv Us and We Luv Them
Adorable story. With a toddle and Chanel I refuse to buy nice things lol but Chanel has a bad habit of getting into dirty laundry. When she gets caught she just cowards down and closes her eyes. I can never stay mad at that cuteness.
Twitter: CreateWithJoy1
says:
Our cats love laying in the dirty laundry too – I think our scents comfort them!
Luckily, Koko has yet to break anything of value, fingers crossed that it doesn’t happen, but of course I would forgive him if he did 🙂 Thanks for the party!
Twitter: CreateWithJoy1
says:
You’re a good mama too, Joy!
LOL Oh, that stinker!
Our cats have absolutely no remorse when they do something wrong. Our tux kitty actually likes to be naughty on purpose, so he can get our attention when we dare to watch a movie, read a book or do writing. 😉
All three of our troublemakers are rescues. I’ll mark down June as Adopt a Cat month. If I recall correctly, this is the start of kitten season at our local Humane Society.
Twitter: CreateWithJoy1
says:
There are times when Magellan definitely acts out to get our attention – I’ve had a few others like that too – I really do think I am attracted to those naughty boy cats…
Might not all be by accident. There might be some crafty planning involved. After all, kitties are very smart.
Twitter: CreateWithJoy1
says:
Well he DOES like that spot an awful lot…
The speaker is a great place to sit. Maybe that’s the real reason the plate broke so that you would have a place to sit.
Did they see you do it? Of course they didn’t, so it must have been that intruder Not Mee who was to blame.
We’ve done our fair share of bad things around here. We do feel bad about it,
I would forgive you 🙂 My cats just try to look innocent, no one ever stays near the scene of the crime.
Twitter: CreateWithJoy1
says:
Smart cats – and with 15 I would think that avoiding the scene of a crime takes quite a bit of coordination!
Great Selfies!
Annabelle,Ping,Boo,and Mr Jinx
MOL…Granny wouldn’t have been angry either, she says it brings luck when something breaks 😀 Pawkisses for an Easy Sunday 🙂 <3
Twitter: CreateWithJoy1
says:
Wow, I’ve never heard that but will definitely keep that in mind – changes one’s perspective on things for sure! 🙂
Nice to be here for the Sunday Selfie with The Cat on my Head. That looks a nice book. It’s good to be here!

So glad you could join us this week! Hope Harvey is on the road to a speedy recovery!
We don’t have a cat, but our daughter has 3 cats and the youngest one is quite naughty sometimes. When he’s done something to cause trouble he runs to climb into his cat carrier to hide for awhile 🙂
Twitter: CreateWithJoy1
says:
How interesting – I know that when it’s available, my kittens have often taken solace in their cat carriers too!
Just like kids, they need extra love and solace when accidents occur!
