Welcome To Wordless Wednesday At Create With Joy!
When Your Photo Shoot Takes An Unexpected Turn
When you live with pets, life is an adventure. Your days never quite go as expected. I have found this to be particularly true whenever I am working on projects that involve creating something special and photographing them for my blog.
When I’m on a photo shoot, I always try to take the most professional shots possible – but sometimes, you have to roll with the punches, especially when you live with a particularly curious cat who always wants to be where the action is!
This is particularly true whenever I have a new recipe to create and share!
Recently I had the pleasure of reviewing fellow blogger Nuccia Ardagna’s wonderful cookbook, Going Against The Grain Italian Style – A Gluten-Free Life Guide And Recipe Book for Staying Healthy and Eating Amazingly. The recipes looked amazing and my husband and I could not resist making the Homemade Soft Amaretti (Almond) Cookies!
Of course, Magellan – who has never whiffed anything like the aroma of almond extract – was captivated by our cookies! He just knew we were baking something special for him! He absolutely refused to leave the kitchen table while the cookies were cooling off and insisted in being in the feature shots. He stood guard over the cookies the entire time and made sure that no one swiped a cookie while he was on watch (although – truth be told – that was the least of our worries!)
So – what do I do when a situation like this arises? I make the most of it! I have fun. I take the “professional” shots. I take the impromptu photos. And – at the end of the day – I do my best to merge the two and create a unique story that only I can share!

Thrilled to hear that your next cookbook is in the works Nuccia – and wouldn’t that be something if Magellan managed to find his way into your next book (I wouldn’t put it past him!) 🙂
I know mine isn’t wordless today, but it was so cat based I thought you would enjoy it.

I am starting to think that Magellan can be the next big Cat Model. He is very smart and knows when and were to sit for the best pictures and to take part of the big action. Yes the smell gave it away with the recipe but this is not the first time.
He is adorable!!

Thanks Jay! I really should enter my cats in some of those big contests one of these days. Would love too but there’s always so much on my plate I just never get around to it!
Hehehe – very interesting 🙂

There is NEVER a dull moment when Magellan is around!
that’s a really interesting photoshoot you had. It really makes the shot stand out more with Magellan in it.
Haha you have a willing model today! Cute!
Cats are so unpredictable and capricious that it’s best to just agree with them and do what they want. I think kitties improve any photo, which is a good job as I’ve had mine join in when I was shooting with models quite a few times 🙂
Magellan knows a good thing when he sees it. He looks great with the cookies.

He was SO fascinated by these cookies – he really loved the way they smelled (which was pretty wonderful, I must admit!)
I’ve had kids hands pop into the picture often

Isn’t that a great photo? You can clearly see Magellan wants to be in that shot!
So funny, Magellan! You know a good thing when you smell it!
Tell your mom to post the recipe. I love almond extract and can almost smell it from here….
Ramona, Duchess, our oldest cat, loves to follow me in the yard during photo shoots outside. She walks on my feet to get my attention when I haven’t paid her enough mind!
Definitely the time of year to take care of our pets when they’re outside! it’s record breaking hot here!
Stay cool and have a great day!

Mary the cookie recipe is definitely on my list to share – Nuccia has given me the green light to post – just need to find the time to do it!
Schedule has been extra crazy this month! You will LOVE the cookies – can’t wait to try the next recipe in her book!
Want to see some Duchess photos soon – WW is for the cats! 🙂
Have a great day!

That’s so neat that Magellan got into the shot! He makes it that much more interesting, maybe even stealing the show. 😉

I think that photos with animals are always eye-catching but try to be sensitive to the fact that other people may not – so, if I am doing a non-pet review and you see the cats there, you can pretty much be sure that I tried to get the shots without them – they insisted on staying – and I eventually decided it would be more fruitful to just take the photos with them then to keep picking them up and removing them (only to have them jump right back up!)
Cat parents know how THAT goes… 🙂
I’m sure I have had unexpected visitors on a photo shoot, but I sure can’t think of anything off the top of my head right now. Thanks for the linky!
Thanks for the party! Magellan is so adorable with those delicious looking cookies!
LOVE it!! Kitty awesomeness!

We love it! The cookies look delicious, and Magellan brings his furry handsomeness to the photos. 🙂
Thanks for hosting, Ramona. Have a great Wednesday!
My pets love to photo bomb my pics! I just wish I could give them posing instructions.
Magellan and the cookies look amazing. Kilo would love to guard cookies but not sure how many would be left LOL X Susie

Great photos and love the video! HAPPY SUMMER…. IT’S FINALLY HERE! But so far it sure is a wet one… next week I’ll have photos of my vegetable garden. Stay tuned… thanks for the linky! Have a hugalicious day!
I am starting to think that Magellan can be the next Masterchef 🙂
Great picture!
That’s quite the guard cat, making sure no one gets the cookies!
It’s too bad the makers of the video did such a poor job with the sound. It was that “you sound like your in a bucket” problem. Most of my photos never turn out that well, so interlopers really don’t bother me. At least you have something interesting to look at. Those cookies look amazing. How did they taste? Hugs, Janet
Those cookies do look amazing. I haven’t had any of those since I was a kid. I may just have to grab the ole cookie sheet.
Love that first shot with Magellan, the cookies and the cookbook! What a great shot!
What a cute story. My cat Dottie, has recently decided to wage war against my laptop. If I sit down to long to work she reminds me it’s time to move by nudging my hand and/or laying on the keyboard.
but cats rule the internets.. so really Magellan was just helping you out 😉
I think that it is wonderful that Magellan decided to help you with your photo shoot! He is so incredibly cute. It looks like he was just posing away for you. The cookies look delicious too 🙂
Oh, yes, kitties always come investigate what I’m doing. Especially when it involves fabric or yarn.
Those cookies look amazing, I can just imagine how great they smelled! Who can blame Magellan for wanting to guard them? My Husky often photo bombs my photo sessions with my other dog. Mainly because she knows there are treats to be had.
Love & Biscuits,
Dogs Luv Us and We Luv Them
My kitty would probably do the same! My husband named him Peaches, so maybe he thinks he belongs in the kitchen?
Made me smile!

Those cookies look so good, I can’t really blame Magellan!

I couldn’t help but click on this link – really such an interesting photo. And such a beautiful cat. I can hear my mother’s voice “yicking” at the thought of a cat near food – but it’s so cute, that cat sniffing those yummy cookies. Yeah, I would to if I had never smelled almond extract. Did you give the cat bit of cookie?
Twitter: CreateWithJoy1
says:
So glad you stopped by Linda! My mom doesn’t think much of cats near food either – but our cats are indoor cats and they extremely clean! 🙂
No, Magellan did not get to taste the cookies, as much as he wanted too – I hovered over him to make sure that he kept his paws off of the yummy treats! 🙂
Cute! My cat often tries to be the star of my photos.
Visiting from the SITS Sharefest. As a cat owner (or, more accurately perhaps – as I am owned by a cat!) – I can totally relate! And as the name of my blog would suggest, I totally loved that the way you reacted was to “make the most of it”.
I don’t blame him one bit for standing guard, they look delicious and would not share either. 🙂
I love Magellan in the pictures. He’s a really majestic cat! Your story made me smile, especially trying to type this being sandwiched between a Main Coon and a one year old girl. 😉 Whenever I want to cut fabric I let our oldest cat play in the garden otherwise she keeps coming back to sit on or play with the fabric. So frustrating and so funny at the same time!
That is the cutest quality control I have ever seen 🙂 The cookies look good too.
