What’s New In The World Of Publishing?
July is a huge month in the world of book publishing as the posthumous book releases of two literary giants are taking the world by storm!
To Set A Watchman – Harper Lee
On July 14, 2015, Harper Lee’s highly anticipated Go Set A Watchman – the follow-up to her beloved, Pulitzer Prize winning masterpiece, To Kill A Mockingbird, was released.
HarperCollins Publishers announced that Go Set A Watchman has set new records by becoming the fastest selling book in their history, selling more than 1.1 million copies of the book in the U.S. and Canada by the week of its release.
Barnes & Noble executive Mary Amicucci believes that Go Set A Watchman will be the top book seller of 2015.
As anticipated, interest in To Kill A Mockingbird is high as well as people read or reread the classic as a prelude to Harper Lee’s new novel.
Share Your Thoughts!
I can’t wait to re-read To Kill A Mockingbird and read Go Set A Watchman as I think it will be fascinating to compare the two books. Are these books on your reading list? Why or why not?
What Pet Should I Get? – Dr. Seuss
On July 28, 2015, beloved author Dr. Seuss’s new book, What Pet Should I Get, is scheduled for release – and as you would expect, children of all ages are overcome with anticipation and excitement!
This Random House book – which is already #1 in the Children’s Book category on Amazon – asks and answers a question that every parent and pet lover can appreciate:
What happens when a brother and sister visit a pet store to pick a pet? Naturally, they can’t choose just one!
As undignified as it may sound, I am giddy with excitement about this new Dr. Seuss book and I’m probably not the only reader who feels this way!
Share Your Thoughts!
I am giddy with excitement about What Pet Should I Get? and I’m sure I’m not the only Dr. Seuss fan out there! Who else is planning to read this book? Is Dr. Seuss just for kids?

Thrilled to see I’m not the only Dr Seuss fan out there Kathy – I think the concept behind the Pet book is ingenious!
I also love Green Eggs and Ham – at least the book! 🙂
Have a fabulous weekend!
I’m actually considering adding a book review feature to my own blog. Just today I picked up two books for my summer reading list, Giovanni’s Room by James Baldwin and A Visit from the Goon Squad by Jennifer Egan. I think my first book review will be on Giovanni’s Room. #SITSBlogging

I haven’t decided if I will read Go Set a Watchman because I was such a fan of Atticus in TKAM. Thanks for sharing with Small Victories Sunday linkup. Pinned to our linkup board and added my link for our August readalong of The House of Spirits by Isabel Allende.

I understand that that the new book shows a different side of Atticus but I think it will be interesting to compare and contrast and form my own opinions.
I loved the original too and I’m particularly curious to see what I think of the book considering both the excitement and the controversy that has surrounded its publication.
Thanks for pinning! Missed the emails for The House Of Spirits readalong so look forward to catching up with your post! 🙂

The book was believed to be written by Dr Seuss sometime between the 50s and 60s based on the illustrations but was never published. I believe it was found by a relative – brought to the attention of the publisher – and the rest as they say is history (in the making)!
