Card Of The Week: Swirls & Pearls – Thinking Of You
Happy August to you, dear friends! What’s on your desk this week? What were you inspired to create?
This week, I was in the mood to dig deep and incorporate a once loved, but long forgotten craft item into my Card Of The Week, so I dug and delved until I came across a bag filled with intricate whirls and swirls of bare, die cut chipboard!
I thought a piece of chipboard would be the perfect element to design this week’s card around!
I used to paint my chipboard but – since I’m currently out of acrylic paint – opted to color it with Colorbox Pigment Ink instead, which turned out beautifully!
Because we’re in the midst of those lazy hazy crazy days of summer, I thought I would choose colors and elements that reminded me of summer!
I used the chipboard as a flower stem – but the swirls also remind me of ocean waves (hence, the choice of “Ocean” as one of the card’s primary colors!)
The swirls in the Thinking Of You sentiment from Close To My Heart complement the design element and make the card perfect for just about any occasion!
The pretty pink layered flowers from K & Company add a touch of the summer garden to the card and, color-wise, add a pretty feminine complement to the card.
Finishing touches include distressing and lots of pretty rhinestones and pearls (the cascading ones are my favorite!)
