Magellan’s New BFF – A Cat Food Review

I Think I Should Be The New BFF Cat

If I Become The New BFF Cat, Will Mom Feed Me More BFF Food?

Have you ever had your pet go through a bit of a finicky spell where they don’t want to eat the normal pet food that you give them – they only want to eat the food that they like?

BFF. Accept No Substitutes!

BFF. Best Feline Friend. Accept No Substitutes!

That’s what we’ve been dealing with ever since our friends at Chewy.com sent us a pallet of Weruva Best Feline Friend (BFF) Variety Pack Canned Cat Food to try out!

This Is What I Want For Breakfast Mom

This Is What I Want For Breakfast Mom! Feed Me The BFF!

I don’t know if it’s the fact that each of the four flavors included in the variety pack have some version of tuna and Magellan has decided that he is a fish fan (we are traditionally a poultry household) – or if there is something extra savory about the “best ingredients available” that Weruva includes in their grain-free formula – but whatever it is about this food, Magellan has been boycotting his regular canned food and holding out for his new BFF!

Watch Closely Kitties – This Is My Secret Technique For Acquiring BFF To Stockpile!

This isn’t making his dad happy, considering that we have 50 cans of his normal food sitting in the cupboard right now and only a few cans of the BFF left.

Wait Til It Gets On The Plate

Mom Serves Our Food On Plates At The Table – But I Got So Excited I Couldn’t Wait For Her To Scoop The BFF Out Of The Can!

Tsunami is pretty happy though, as he’s been getting a whole can of regular food all to himself on the days that Magellan gets finicky!

BFF Buddies

Breakfast Is Served – and Two Best Feline Friends Begin Another Joy-Filled Day!

In any event, the BFF is a huge hit in our house – every time the cats eat it, they lick the plate clean!

Looks like our cats are becoming quite the foodies, thanks to Chewy.com!

I cannot believe how Magellan acts around that food! He goes absolutely wild! I’ve been spacing out the last remaining cans so that if he refuses to eat his regular canned food for a few days, I can give him one (he still free feeds on his dry food just fine, so don’t worry – he isn’t starving by any means!)

But he definitely has no trouble making his wishes known and right now – he is enamored by his new BFF!

  2. I have had times when my kitties were finicky.
At one time I thought maybe they were sick.

  3. So cool that he gets to review cat food.. It must be a dream for him.

That is so cute! I hope the cat food company makes Magellan their brand ambassador, so that he can get more! The image of the girl with her cat reminds me of my photo of Amanda with Prince at the end of today’s WW post with Linky. There’s so much love and friendship between a child and her pet. Although, technically, Prince is Samantha’s cat. 😉

Wouldn’t that be awesome? I should send them his story! I truly cannot believe how he is holding out for his BFF. I don’t mind buying it for him if he enjoys it – but I certainly don’t want him to get fixated on it in case it ever becomes unavailable!

Cats have a funny way with their food and treats, they do get very adament about ways in which to get humans to respond to their infatuation with food. I think they have us trained.

I have not seen the B.F.F. brand here, might have to look for it.
Thanks for hosting Ramona, hope you have a great week.
    Thanks too for stopping by!

He always poses so well for you!

It’s funny you should say that – actually, he is often very uncooperative and it takes a lot of time and effort to get these shots – he seems to know when the camera is on him and if he isn’t in the mood for photos, he will turn his back to the camera and refuse to have his photo taken – or he will walk up to the camera and try to smack it out of my hand!

He is not trained in anyway (contrary to how well some of these shots turned out) – so I am always THRILLED when I get a good shot!

Which goes to show how enthralled he is with this food!

Cats really are pretty funny which is what makes them so fun to have around sometimes.

Yes they can be very amusing! I couldn’t believe it when I turned my back on him for just a moment and he ran across the counter (not allowed there!) and up to the can before I had a chance to scoop it out! (First time for everything!) Tsunami likes it too – but Magellan goes wild for this stuff!

  9. Thanks for party, looks like Magellan really likes his new food!

      says:

Yes he does! I was listening to another video on why cats are so finicky and it said that cats are often triggered by the scent of the food.
I can believe that – this food has a stronger aroma than his regular food – wonder if that’s part of its charm!

  10. He is smart. He knows want he wants. Always remember that a cat will go where the food dish is best.

Our gorgeous cat is rather fussy with his food. It has been a bit of hit and miss. His previous owners were vegetarian, so I’m not entirely sure what that meant in terms of cat food. We are having a terrible time with fleas at the moment. Can’t seem to get on top of them. The long coat doesn’t help.

      says:

Oh Raychael – I feel for you with the fleas! Since I keep my cats indoors, it’s been along time since I’ve had to deal with that, but back in the day when I also had a long haired dog (who brought them inside with him) – we ended up ripping up all of the carpet in our house as part of our get rid of the problem solution!

Hope you find an effective solution soon (be sure to talk to your vet) – and hope you are able to please your finicky feline’s palate as well!

Magellan, have you been taking lessons from our kitties? Because they’re all particular about their food, too! 🙂

    Thanks for hosting!

  14. I’ve never heard of that food before – I’ll have to check it out for our picky cats! 🙂

Magellan likes his dry food too which is one of the reasons I try to get him to eat wet food as well.
He has been eating his other food without a hitch until recently – hopefully this will pass and he will be more receptive to ALL of his good foods!

  19. Mister Cat is not picky at all and has never been through a finicky spell. He likes everything 🙂

  20. Glad your cats like the BFF! Hope they are able to switch back to the other 50 cans!! Thanks for the linky

Excellent video. Wish I had changed up the food a bit with some of mine when they were kittens to avoid their now finicky behavior. XOCK, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo

Such a beautiful cat ! Magellan rates the food as purr-ty delicious !

A friend has a similar one in grey & black and a full black – not sure what breed they are though. What is yours ?

    Stopping by from WW !

  24. Robin says:

My cats love Weruva’s foods! They really are top notch. The BFF line was a great addition for them. 🙂 I’m glad that your kitties like it too.

I really appreciate the opportunity that Chewy.com provides for Magellan and Tsunami to test so many foods – based on some of the preferences they have shown, it has definitely impacted the foods and treats we will be ordering from them in the future!

Best of luck to you Susan – I hope you get another cat soon! 🙂

  28. We love BFF foods…though we don’t get them very often because they are mostly fish flavors and we don’t eat a lot of fish.

  29. Ellen Pilch says:

Looks like a good food. My cats are only picky when they are not feeling well.

I don’t feed Alice and Arya canned cat food. Alice never liked it and I haven’t tried with Arya. I hear that it’s good for them to have it occasionally. Maybe I’ll try again.
