Pounce!
Do you have a favorite game that you love to play? I, Magellan, am always eager to play a good game of Pounce!
The rules of Pounce are quite simple – but I’m happy to share them in case you’ve never played!
- The game starts whenever I bring you a toy. This includes when you are sleeping – when you eating – when you are working – when you are watching TV – any time you are not focusing your full attention on me!
- The objective of the game is to entertain me. The best way to do this is to use the object I have brought you and to emulate prey that I can stalk, hunt and otherwise pounce upon.
- To keep me active and engaged, you must run me around the house so that I can leap across the furniture – jump and pounce on things – tear up and down the stairs and my cat trees – and hide behind well-placed barricades that you have set up for me in advance as I stalk my prey. (You did plan out my course, did you not?)
- Of course, if you are running me around the house the way I insist on being played with – you know that means that you are getting a fair bit of movement in too!
The game usually ends when my humans wear themselves out, but never fear – there is always another toy and another game of Pounce waiting to begin!

Our not so little cat features on the blog today. I’m looking for ways to make him an indoor cat, after being left to roam with his previous owners.
My boys love the game pounce, but it’s on my feet when I’m sleeping with claws fully extended. Owww!

You can tell who is owned by cats – they are the people who sleep with thick comforters on their beds year round (to protect their toes!)

Our cat, Lucy, used to love to play in boxes, even until nearly age 18 when she left us. Our Yorkie, Sunny, is a rescue, who doesn’t really know how to play with toys. But she loves to “dance” when she’s happy!

Those are some great pictures. I like to play that pounce game too, and those rules are absolutely true, but sometimes the human changes the rules mid game for me. The human says thank you for the link up.

Pounce sounds like an awesome game, Magellan! Gracie’s favorite game is playing with the collar tabs from my dress shirts. As soon as I walk in after a day of work, she is waiting for me to pull them out and throw them her way. 🙂

Our daughter Laura is having knee surgery on Friday. She’ll be on crutches and in a brace for 6 weeks. Any prayers appreciated!

It’s very late and I have doctor’s tomorrow. I’m getting my cortizone shots for my hips. I have severe bursitis and they’re driving me nuts. My cats at home’s fave play as well =P
My favorite game is Run Away With My Prey! My human plays with me with a fishing pole type of toy and I catch my prey – and I run away with it with the pole clattering behind me. I’ll go all the way down the circular staircase and down the hallway!

We love to pounce.
My cats used to love playing brown paper bag. I’d open a big paper bag and tap on the outside of it. They would dive in the bag after the noise. It was so funny.
