Fried Chicken – Book Review
If you love fried chicken and want to learn how to make a variety of both classic and unique fried chicken dishes, add Fried Chicken – Recipes For The Crispy, Crunchy, Comfort-Food Classic by Rebecca Lang to your must-have list of books!
Fried Chicken contains a compendium of interesting facts and information about this beloved dish that Americans most closely associate with Southern cuisine, but is in actuality a universal dish served around the world!
Each culture has its own spin on fried chicken and in Rebecca’s book, you’ll find recipes for much-loved American classics such as Real Southern Buttermilk Fried Chicken – but you’ll also explore how cultures as diverse as Brazil, Mexico, China, Thailand, Korea, Jamaica, Indonesia and West Africa incorporate chicken into their cuisine!
Fried Chicken opens with a primer on chicken handling. In the section entitled Chicken 101, you’ll learn how to cut up a chicken – various ways of frying a chicken – and why you should never wash a chicken (in spite of what you may have been taught!)
The recipes in Fried Chicken are conveniently divided into three sections: Skillet Fried, Deep Fried, and Combination Fried and the photography is gorgeous. The book contains enough photos to make readers happy, although photos are not provided for each recipe.
Fried Chicken is a wonderful specialty cookbook for chicken lovers to add to their kitchen bookshelves!
I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars.
